Lie to Me

Image
Song: Lie To Me Artist: Madam Bandit  Mindy Gledhill's alter-ego is making a come-back this spooky szn!! πŸŽƒπŸ‘» And this song is a million miles away from the innocent, wonder of discovery and youth I shared last month ( Rabbit Hole )! This track has a psychotic, obsessive, desperate, pleading feel to it. Makes me think of a vampire trying to seduce his lover...πŸ§› Ew, lol. That was a weird thought. I was a pre-tween when Twilight reigned rampant amongst tween girls, so you can't really blame me. Don't forget to check out the song I shared a year ago today , also from Miss Madam Bandit. It feels just as eerie and possessive as this one! Caught in the light Out of the blue Stealing my heart Like a fool on the run  But there’s nowhere to run to Don’t even try Don’t make a move Don’t ask me why I want you to want me so bad I don’t care if you Lie to me, lie to me Lie to me, lie to me We could try to be, try to be more More like lovers Lie to me, lie to me Lie to me, lie to me...

Alice in Wonderland πŸ‡πŸ‚‘ πŸ‚½

Image
Alice in Wonderland is another classic fairytale and Disney film I adore! πŸ’œ It fills my heart with wonder and nostalgia. I love the visuals of Wonderland, with massive gardens 🌻, giant mushrooms πŸ„, tea parties 🍡, red roses 🌹 and playing cards πŸ‚‘ πŸ‚½ It's all so whimsical.  To see song selections from the Walt Disney animated film, see this post . It also contains additional "Alice" themed/inspired songs like Aerosmith's Sunshine (the title of the post), Mindy Gledhill's  Pocketful of Poetry (can also be found here ) and Taylor Swifts Wonderland. There's also video + a few links to songs from the musical Wonderland . Then head over here and here for music from Tim Burton's wild adaptation of Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass. Wasn't a fan of the movies, but the songs are great. OK, on to our modern day Alice &  Wonderland inspired tunes! From, Wonderland, the musical I listened to this entire album on Monday while on a ...

Psycho Killer (Noir Version)

Image
Song:  Psycho Killer (Noir Version) Artist: Madam Bandit aka Mindy Gledhill I've posted several Mindy Gledhill songs here before... usually during my Grateful For Music Challenge in November. Her music has always been so sweet and whimsical to me. Well, apparently she has an alter-ego known as Madam Bandit who is the polar and complete opposite of the Mindy Gledhill music I have known before and she practically screams Halloween! πŸ˜±πŸ’€πŸ‘Ή At least, this song does - which is the only song I have heard from "Madam Bandit" so far. I probably won't be listening to much of her future releases as it's low-key disturbing and not really my taste... I just think the whole look/tone and overall feel of this song works well with the current season. πŸŽƒ I can't seem to face up to the facts I'm tense and nervous and I Can't relax I can't sleep 'cause my bed's on fire Don't touch me I'm a real live wire Psycho Killer Qu'est-ce que c'est ? f...

Grateful For Music Challenge Day 2

Image
Song: Falling and Flying Artist: Mindy Gledhill Artists that seem to get mentioned quite often during the Grateful For Music Challenge include Josh Groban ( always ) and Mindy Gledhill! I don't know why, but there's something about this time of year that draws me to their music more often than at any other time. I guess I just need something softer, more mellow and uplifting (especially after some of the spookiness and sometimes darkness of Halloween music). Trust me, almost every Mindy Gledhill song I have shared via this blog has been during this month and this challenge! πŸ˜‚ See if you can find them all!  I discovered Mindy Gledhill's first original album,  Feather in the Wind , several years ago. I'd only ever listened to one song from it (which I shared  3 years ago; surprisingly it was not included during the  Grateful For Music Challenge! ). I decided to look this album up only a few weeks ago when I was searching for some calming, uplifting music. This was th...

Sunshine

Image
Song: Sunshine Artist: Aerosmith I'm so excited for October and H a L l O w E n ! ! !πŸ’€ I love the holidays so much! For the past several years, I have been reading "holiday inspired" books beginning around this time of year. I have read books such as The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevensen , Frakenstien by Mary Shelly, The Witches  by Roald Dahl, The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux   and And Then There Were None by Agatha Christy. I also read The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving every year. It's very important to note that I am NOT a fan of horror or "super scary." I like the fun side of Halloween, not the creepy. So, there will be NO Stephen King novels for this girl! This year, I started reading a book that I felt could work for Halloween but also wasn't quite "Halloweeny" enough, so I decided to start reading mid-September and slowly start ringing in "spooky season" that ...

The Christmas Waltz

Image
Song : The Christmas Waltz Artist(s) : Mindy Gledhill, Kristen Chenoweth & Frank Sinatra It's funny because I've never really heard this song before (at least that I can recall) until this year! The melody sounded familiar but other than that, it's quite unfamiliar for me. And then I have been randomly hearing it the past two months and I like it so here ya go! I'm sharing this same song  three different times by three different artists. The first time I heard The Christmas Waltz  was from the lovely Mindy Gledhill. She has such a sweet, musical voice. Very charming. Her version makes think of a toy store for some reason and she is a doll on a music box :) My second version is from Kristin Chenoweth. She sang it with the Tabernacle Choir last year during their Christmas concert. I didn't go, but I have listened to some of the songs from her performance and I thought this one was sweet :) Looks like this song was also on a Christmas album she releas...

Tightrope

Image
Song: Tightrope Artist: From,  The Greatest Showman Yup. It's another song from the amazing Greatest Showman soundtrack! This song doesn't necessarily have any strong, personal connection to my life, I just really like it! It's cute. It reminds me of a Mindy Gledhill song a little bit. The style and the metaphorical use of the tightrope. Some people long for a life that is simple and planned Tied with a ribbon Some people won't sail the sea 'cause they're safer on land To follow what's written But I'd follow you to the great unknown Off to a world we call our own Hand in my hand And we promised to never let go We're walking the tightrope High in the sky We can see the whole world down below We're walking the tightrope Never sure, never know how far we could fall But it's all an adventure That comes with a breathtaking view Walking the tightrope With you... Mountains and valleys, and all that will come in between Desert and ...

Grateful For Music Challenge Day 15

Image
Song: Bedtime Song Artist: Mindy Gledhill,  Pocketful of Poetry The last song from Pocketful of Poetry . So dreamlike and whimsical, it takes you on a magical journey through fairyland :) I love this album and I hope you have enjoyed listening to the songs. I hope it makes you feel like a child again. To feel light, free and happy! This album is so unique and uplifting. It would make a great Christmas gift! I could write your bedtime song Sing it to you all night long When shadows grow like vines And voices soft as chimes Won't let you close your eyes I could write your bedtime song Mother Earth and Brother Moon Spin in rhythm to this tune And curtains made of clouds Bend down to kiss your brow While daylight takes a bow So you can rest your head I could tell you every story Aesop's Fables, Brothers Grimm But my favorite story is The story that we're living in Starlight through the windowpane Sends a blessing on your name As placid as a pond More...

Grateful For Music Challenge Day 14

Image
Song: Finding Home Artist: Mindy Gledhill,  Pocketful of Poetry I LOVE this one! It's probably my second favorite song on the album (after Shadow Children ). The message of the song makes me feel so nostalgic. It makes me want to be a child again. It makes me wish I could go back to carefree days of playing with friends, coloring, being outside for hours running barefoot through the fields, drawing with chalk on the pavement, slumber parties, hardly a care in the world! Listening to this song makes me want to simplify my life. To slow down and take in the wonder and beauty of life and live as a child: in the moment, happy and like there isn't anything I can't do. Remember when the grass was tall And we built castles out of golden straw Our feet were bare, our tangled hair Blew in the humid ocean air The old blue house reflected on The mirrored sky within the silver pond And horses grazed inside a maze Of thistle thorns and barley blades And I'm fo...

Grateful For Music Challenge Day 13

Image
Song: Honey Artist: Mindy Gledhill,  Pocketful of Poetry This song is very different from the other songs off the album. I never given it much thought in the past but listening to it now and reading through the lyrics, I have a completely new perspective on the song itself and it has taken on a whole new meaning to me. It definitely makes me think of someone with depression who is feeling down. The singer or the lyrics is that person who is there trying to lift them up and help them however they can. When you're blue, buried deep 60,000 leagues under the bottom of the sea I will swim to you to set you free I will swim to you to set you free Honey, when you feel worn out When the mirror lies and turns on you When the choruses of doubt are singing way too loud Honey, I will chase them down Honey, that's what love's about Well, your world once revolved A thousand miles per hour, now you watch it as it falls And fizzles at a slow dissolve Fizzles at a slo...

Grateful For Music Challenge Day 12

Image
Song: Shadow Children Artist: Mindy Gledhill,  Pocketful of Poetry I've been excited to post this one! This song is so beautiful yet almost feels sad at the same time. There is a "Peter Pan" theme going on which of course I love! There are references to lost boys, mermaids, pixie, flying through a window, growing up, etc. This has always been one of my favorites off the album, I hope you like it to! And that it reminds you to stay young and NEVER grow up! Far away in the light of day when we as children played. Prone to run in the setting sun and slowly fade away. Where, where did we go, oh when we lost our shadows? I'll fly through your window if you tell me a story of long lost boys and their wooden toys and mermaids by the sea, Pixie dust and a gust of wind to sail us through our dreams. Where, where did we go, oh when we lost our shadows? I'll fly through your window if you tell me a story of why we must all grow up to the ap...

Grateful For Music Challenge Day 11

Image
Song: Picture Show Artist: Mindy Gledhill,  Pocketful of Poetry Another love song. This whole album just makes me feel so happy! And makes me want this kind of fun, sweet, fairy-tale, magical, simple, real kind of love more than ever! It makes me want to be hopeful about actually finding love again. Because, I've kind of come to the conclusion that I'll be "forever alone" and it makes me so sad :( So, I'm grateful these cute songs help put that spark of hope back into my heart again. Because I don't want to be alone. I want love and companionship. I want a best friend to fall in love with and go on adventures with and live happily ever after with. Way up high in my tree We would climb to get a peak at the drive-in movie screen Watching people from afar Cozied up inside their cars Underneath a web of summer stars Fireflies flicker by In a scene where Gregory Peck catches Audrey Hepburn's eye You look at me the moment that I'm staring D...

Grateful For Music Challenge Day 10

Image
Song: Oh No! Artist: Mindy Gledhill.  Pocketful of Poetry Very cute, bubbly song about love. A little cheesy perhaps but I really enjoy the chorus, it's very catchy. Also, I had already posted songs 3 & 4 from the album last year during my Grateful For Music Challenge so check out #3 Take Flight here & #4 Little Red Bike here . These two songs are so sweet and have such a nostalgic feeling and sound to them....almost makes me emotional. Oh no! I fell in love with you And you fell in love with me, what shall we do? Oh no! What's happened to my heart? It pitters and it pats two beats apart! Oh no! I am a victim of A cupid and his arrow up above Oh no! I haven't got a chance Against the superpowers of romance Here we go, here we go Like a roller coaster high and low And there's no returning from this twisting turning  We are caught up in the undertow And we're never, ever gonna slow down Oh no! There's danger up ahead So say yo...

Grateful For Music Challenge Day 8

Image
Song: Trouble No More Artist: Mindy Gledhill,  Pocketful of Poetry Cute, fun, care-free song. I really like this song because it's so positive. It's like, I'm not going to sweat the small things in life. If I burn the pancakes, oh well! My mistake, it happens. This song helps me want to stay positive because in all honesty, I'm not a very optimistic, positive thinking person! I definitely have a "glass-half-empty" mentality. I am grateful for songs that make me feel better and see the good in life.....or at least try to! :) Well you won't believe what I'm gonna be when it's time for me to run I'm gonna leave this nest and give my best to the place where I grew up And there won't be trouble in the world no more There won't be trouble in the world no more! There won't be trouble in the world no more! There won't be trouble in the world no more! I've got a wishing bone and a worry stone and a lucky rabbit's...

Grateful For Music Challenge Day 6

Image
Song: Pocketful of Poetry Artist: Mindy Gledhill,  Pocketful of Poetry I'm going to be spotlighting Mindy Gledhill and her album Pocketful of Poetry this week! Honestly, this is to help me focus on non-Christmas music because I've been so hooked on it lately! I am a big fan of Mindy Gledhill. Her music is so whimsical, cute and happy. It makes me happy! It makes me want to run around barefoot and be a kid again :) This song is so light-hearted and fun, I feel like throwing my hands in the air and running away to Wonderland....I love the music video because it is so Alice in Wonderland inspired. And I love that world of nonsense and make believe. I am grateful that music can make me feel young and carefree amidst the challenges of real life. I need the escape every now and then, and this is the perfect place to go. I don't do well if I'm kept behind  An office desk inside  It makes me lose my mind Which wonders endlessly Where all the birds fly freely W...

Feather in the Wind

Image
Song: Feather in the Wind Artist: Mindy Gledhill I've tried a little something new with my blog!! I'm really loving it and hope anyone who reads my blog will too. I've been cleaning out and organizing my bedroom these past couple of days. I feel like I need a new start. And with my birthday coming up, I feel like that's as good of a time as a "fresh start" as any. This song came to mind today and I feel like I can relate. It's really beautiful and soothing and all about change and changing and discovering who you are. And not being afraid where the wind will take you. I want that in my life. I want that freedom and lightness. I'm a feather in the wind I'm up and then I'm down again and though the places I have been to heavens gate and 'round the bend Things are never what They appear to be 'Cause everybody's trying to grab a hold of me So catch me if you can Set me free again Like a feather in the wind I'm a reflecti...

Emma

Image
Song: Emma Artist: Nashville Tribute Band   As I have learned more about the incredible woman Emma Hale Smith was, the more my love and admiration for her grows. This was a woman who sacrificed so much. This was a woman who showed incredible courage and faith in the midst of trials that were so severe, it would have broken almost anyone!   As her mother-in-law, Lucy Mack Smith said of her: “I have never seen a woman in my life, who would endure every species of fatigue and hardship, from month to month, and from year to year, with that unflinching courage, zeal, and patience, which she has ever done; for I know that which she has had to endure … she has breasted the storms of persecution, and buffeted the rage of men and devils, which would have borne down almost any other woman.”   I couldn't agree more! I am grateful for Emma's example of faith, patience and complete trust in the Lord and her Savior Jesus Christ. I am thankful for the wond...

Grateful For Music Challenge Day 15: Take Flight

Image
Song: Take Flight Artist: Mindy Gledhill   Very similar to my song choice for yesterday but again, I'm just feeling really emotional and grateful for the people in my life who have helped raise me. Who have loved me just because I'm me. And because I'm theirs. And I'm special to them. And that feels so good! I'm especially feeling grateful for my sweet grandmother who has so much love for me. I feel it every time I see her (which isn't often enough!). I'm just so thankful for these wonderful people I have in my life! And this song is so sweet and all about that unconditional love of a parent and the love that is felt, needed and reciprocated from the child. It's very tender.     I can't be held too tightly My spirit quivers like a kite But when you love me without strings I take flight I want to burn more brightly Than all the shooting stars at night And when you wish the best for me I take flight And with...

Grateful For Music Challenge Day 14: Little Red Bike

Image
Song: Little Red Bike Artist: Mindy Gledhill    This song makes me want to cry!! It just makes me think of growing up and moving on and moving away. So, why would I post a song that makes me feel sad during my grateful for music challenge? Because as emotional as this song makes me, it does make me feel grateful as well. It makes me think of my parents. It makes me think of their love for me. How much they have helped me my entire life and how they are continuing to always help me. They are always there for me. But I've reached that point in my life where they can't always do everything for me, they've had to let go a little bit. I'm sure that's hard for them. Especially when they see me struggling as much as I am. But even though they've let go a little bit, they're still there, running behind me, ready to help pick me up when I fall down. They believe in me. They know I am capable of succeeding. Since the time they helped me learn to ride my ...

Grateful for Music Day 21: All About Your Heart

Image
Song: All About Your Heart Artist: Mindy Gledhill, Anchor   I love Mindy Gledhill's style of music. It's so cute, happy and whimsical! It makes me feel giddy and like a kid again! It's so much fun! I am grateful for this sweet love song today because it is so cute and has a beautiful message. No one is perfect. We all have our flaws, our quirks and unique things that make us.... us . Sometimes, they're not the most pleasant. And sometimes we don't even like them ourselves. But when you love someone, you can look past those weaknesses and truly see the person's heart. At least that's what I'm assuming. I've never been in love or in a relationship so I'm just going off my imagination what I've read and seen in books and movies and heard in songs. Love songs are my weakness. I am such a romantic at heart. It can hurt sometimes. I want to badly to be in love. And to be loved. It will happen to me someday....right? ...
