Hanson Month 2019 Day 30

Song: No Rest For the Weary Artist: Hanson, String Theory (2018) I was SO HAPPY and EXCITED to see this song was going to be featured on String Theory! It's originally from Loud (2016 Member EP)   and I just remember loving it! Not only does it have amazing lyrics but the tune is so catchy and cool! At first, I was worried the orchestra might take away from or over power the awesomeness of this song but it really worked so well and sounds great! "Yesterday was just fine but the future's all I got time for!" I need to make this my mantra :) This song gives me so much life! THAT ENDING THO!!! I don't need to make sense I don't try to rhyme 'Cause I've paid my dues Yeah, I've done my time I might eat my hat I might lose my case But I won't hide my words Behind a poker face You know that There's no rest, for the weary Brother don't waste my time 'Cause I've already made up my mind There's no rest, for the

Song: Battle Cry Artist: Hanson, String Theory (2018) I have now listened to the last Hanson album of my collection (so far - I should be getting my 2019 member EP in June!). I know I haven't posted much from the incredible String Theory album but I can't recommend it enough! You have to go buy it and listen to it in it's entirety, start to finish, for yourself. It truly is a masterpiece! So uplifting and inspiring. This song is completely specific to String Theory ! As in, it was brand new. And I love it!! What a powerful anthem! Especially for me at this time in my life. I need powerful, uplifting, inspiring songs. And this one is a winner!! It always starts with the blast of a distant shell Then the smoke fills the air and they start to yell Every man feels the blow when the earth explodes There's a look in their eyes like a walking ghost And every time you fall  Face down in the dirt I never will be far Don't be afraid I've got a battle cr

Song: Being Me Artist: Hanson As I near the end of Hanson Month 2019, I just remembered a song I have to share. I really don't know where this song comes from. Throughout all of the listening I have done this month, this particular song didn't show up anywhere! It's not on any of the past fan club EP's, albums, singles, etc. It must be a very rare song, locked deep in the Hanson Song Vault ;) I can't even find any recent live performances posted! But, I remembered it the other day and thought "I've gotta post this before Hanson Month ends!" It's pretty out of order, but it's too beautiful not to share. I discovered it a few years ago on youtube and loved it because the message was so relevant to my life. I cried. I don't mean to hit you with two emotional song posts in two days but music gives me a voice! I don't feel like this song is applicable for me at this particular moment in my life, but it probably will be again some time s

Song: Young & Dumb Artist: Hanson, Animal Instincts - 2018 Member EP I just listened to my Animal Instincts EP again. I had been extremely disappointed in the Hanson Day 2018 live stream concert and then never really could get into the new music when I got it last year. I don't know why. In Color (the 2017 Member EP) is by far my favorite "members EP" to date. That could be due to the fact that I went to Hanson Day that year so I got to hear all of the new songs performed live for the first time in person, but it still remains my favorite to this day even after listening to all of the members only music throughout the month. So I guess I was comparing Animal Instincts a little too hard/unfairly with that one. Whatever the reason, I am just not as familiar with the songs. But after giving it another listen today, I actually like it a lot more than I ever have before. I am highlighting this particular song because it has always been my favorite. The message is mea

Song: I Don't Wanna Go Home Artist: Hanson, In Color - 2017 Members EP My favorite song from my favorite members EP ever! It's just too much fun!! And what a perfect song to end every future show with right!? I was lucky enough to hear it performed live for the first time EVER during Hanson Day 2017 and I knew it was going to be a winner (for me personally and with all Fansons everywhere!). I have fond memories of jamming to this song with my sister as we drove home from Hanson Day! It fit my mood perfectly :) Two in the morning Last call is in I couldn't tell you why but right now I'm feeling dangerous The more I learn the less I know 'Cause sometimes real life seems Stranger than the dream I'm living for Six hours 'til I'm a work Four hours 'til I'm in bed Trying to capture each moment Like a picture in my head God only knows all the places I'll see I don't want to go home I don't want to go All my friend

Song: Feeling Alive Artist: Hanson,  Play EP (2016) I am so stoked I found this on youtube!! Below is a recording from  Hanson Day 2016  when this song was first performed. I remember listening to it (via live stream) and falling absolutely in love! It was one of the those special moments where you  feel  what you are hearing so intensely that your heart can barely take it and you just explode because you know you have just found a song that you will love forever! It was like that. And it was  because  of this live version (below). The lyrics really just touch me. And the message speaks to me in a very real and personal way. I also just really love the way Taylor sings it .... especially "My story isn't sterile been on both sides of BARREL!" (minute 0:33-0:38).   Ugh! It's so good!! His voice has so much passion and just, I don't know. I just remember loving that part and the way he sang it. Nothing like Hanson live. Too good. The album version is still beautif

Song: Signs Of Life Artist: Hanson, Super Digital Pants (2015) So, Zac Hanson is hilarious if you didn't know. And he is a genius at coming up with super random, super silly songs and has compiled them into two albums known as  Digital Pants and Super Digital Pants . I don't own either of them, but I have enjoyed watching the videos and listening to the songs that he shares via the Hanson.net blog . For example, his Turning 21 video changed my life! Haha!! I turned 21 the year I found it. It was fate. Jet Lag is one of the funniest videos I have ever seen! And his More To Love song/video ..... I just watched it again a few days ago and I was DYING! It is hysterical and made me laugh and smile and just made me so happy! It's great! And so fitting for me! I hope my future husband feels/thinks the same way Zac does when it comes to food and my love of eating it, lol! (*FYI: You have to be a Hanson.net member to view the videos I mentioned above.....I highly recommend you

Today I decided I would share some of Hanson's most epic covers they have done over the years! I came across a bunch the other day and they blew me away!! Ugh. They are sooooo freaking good!! I just wish more people saw/appreciated/understood that!! Including my own family!! Be prepared! This is a HANSON OVERLOAD! You have been warned ;) Gimme Some Lovin'/Shake a Tail Feather ( Live From Albertane, 1998)  The Spencer Davis Group (Gimme Some Lovin' - 1966) & The Five Du-Tones (Shake a Tail Feather - 1963) Cover So fun! Today I am highlighting three songs by other artists that Hanson has collaborated with in recent years. Song: Unbelievable Artist: Owl City feat. Hanson, Mobile Orchestra (2015) It's UNBELIEVABLE to me that I never posted this song! This is such a fun song for kids who grew up in the 90's!! I love the music video and the lyrics and Hanson absolutely slayed it! They were the perfect choice to collaborate with on this song :) You rock Owl City! And hopefully it gave them some good exposure to people who still have a stereotype when it comes to Hanson or introduced them to a whole new generation of people who are yet to know of the awesomeness that is Hanson! You never know what can happen! Seeing Hanson on the television show Cupcake Wars was what did it for me :) Also, I just have to add that my "only-country-music-loving" brother-in-law LOVES this song!! ;) It's unbelievable This is as good as it gets It's unbelievable Don't know what'

Song: All I Ever Needed Artist: Hanson, From Icon the Paintings of ANTHEM (2013) A book was released in 2013 that featured paintings inspired by Hanson's album Anthem. Three extra songs were included with the purchase of said book. I believe these were three tracks that didn't quite make the cut. Quite frankly, I'm OK with it. They weren't my favorite and didn't seem to fit the overall tone/theme of the material on Anthem . Good call boys! Out of the three songs ( Nothing On Me , All I Ever Needed & Get So Low ) this one was my favorite. It's a cute love song. And a Taylor lead :) Nothing On Me is an Isaac lead and my second favorite. Get So Low, the Zac lead, was my least favorite, mainly due to the fact that it has the "S" word in it (add an "S" to "hit"). That was super disappointing to me. One (of the  many ) reasons I have always admired and respected Hanson is because of their clean music. Their songs have always had

Song: Call Out My Name Artist: Hanson, The Sound Of Light - 2013 Member EP Going a little out of order (this song should go right after my Best Of Times post for timeline purposes) but I still wanted to share it because it's such a good song!! And another "recently discovered" song found during HANSON MONTH 2019! Music wise, this has been such a fun month! I have loved listening to every Hanson song/album/EP I can find. I am super grateful for youtube because I find so much music I otherwise would never hear! Woah... When I first met you I was sure I would be ready for what's in store Now you're becoming something more And it's so hard I'll be watching you go Treat everyday as the start You'll be just fine Nobody gonna steal your spark If you should lose your way I'll be right there if you call out my name Deep blue eyes, golden hair You are so beautiful people will swear When you're walking they will stare Cause you move like you'

Song: Cut Right Through Me Artist: Hanson, Anthem (2013) I told you I was going to highlight more songs from Anthem ;) This has always been one of my favorites from the album! IT'S SO GOOD!!!  Also, I made a cinnamon glaze to drizzle over my "failed" Hanson Snicker-doodle roll-out cookies from yesterday and ..... it actually tasted really good!! It gave the cookies a nice sweetness and extra cinnamon kick that was so lacking before! I am very happy with the results :) I thought I was so tough Who knew you could play so rough I’ve got to slow down ‘cause you s Spun my head around You read me so well You make it hard to tell Why all my words fail when I stop, you begin To cut right through me To cut right through me I can’t explain how you do what you’re doing You cut right through me You cut right through me I can’t turn away I don’t know how you do it I say a word and say too much You take a piece of everything you touch You cut right through

Song: Already Home Artist: Hanson, Anthem (2013) Feeling super nostalgic as I think about all the lucky peeps who got to party in Tulsa this weekend. Just a few hours ago, they had the privilege of attending a super exclusive, super rocking concert, hearing all 5 of the new EP songs for the first time, LIVE. I have to wait until June for mine to even arrive. AND they didn't even stream the concert this year :( DOUBLE SAD!!!   To make up for that major let down, I renewed my membership today so   BRING ON THE NEW TUNES BABY! In celebration of Hanson Day I made my annual Hanson cookies (while wearing another Hanson shirt)! But ..... sadly, they did NOT turn out :( I made the Snicker-doodle cut out cookies ..... hoping they were going to taste just like a delicious, soft snicker-doodle in the shape of the Hanson logo, but instead I somehow ended up with an incredibly tasteless cookie. I was so disappointed! I mean, this thing had cinnamon and sugar in the dough itself and t

Song: Best Of Times Artist: Hanson, The Sound of Light - 2013 Member EP I love this song!! It has such a fun, "road trip" feel to it. Like, it's the perfect song to listen to when you're on vacation, creating new memories and having the best of times!  Today is officially day 2 of Hanson Day Weekend 2019 . I'm hoping they will live stream the Hanson Day concert tomorrow!! I haven't seen any mention of it anywhere and I'm starting to freak out a little! I look forward to those streams like I look forward to Christmas morning! They always help with the extreme FOMO I feel every year (except, of course, for Hanson Day 2017 ! Best weekend of my life! Speaking of, two years ago from RIGHT NOW, TODAY I was on a plane headed for my first ever Hanson Day adventure!! It truly was the Best of Times! ). Regardless, I can't wait for the new EP! I hope it's better than last years .... sorry Hanson! I "celebrated" Hanson Day today by sporting m
