We Can Be Together Forever Someday

Image
Song: We Can Be Together Forever Someday Artist: Michael McLean Today was a sad day :( Several of my family members have left. The holidays are coming to an end. It's been such a fun Christmas, surrounded by family. We were almost all together again (minus my little bro who is still out on his mission). We got to talk to him via Skype Christmas Day so for about one hour, everyone , me and all my siblings, our parents and our new nephew/grandson were all together! It was special. Since my family is growing and changing so much, I know this was really and truly a special and unique time for us. Next year, my younger sister will be gone on a mission (even though my current missionary brother will be back) and my married sister, brother-in-law and nephew will be with the other side of their family. I don't know if we will really ever experience another Christmas all together again. And who knows when the next kid will get married (my guess is my missionary brother) and be bringi

On the Twelfth Day of Christmas....

Song: Silent Night Artist: Josh Groban Today we celebrate the birth of the Savior! This is what Christmas  is all about! For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16) For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6) And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. (Luke 2:7) For, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people....For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.....And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on

Candlelight Carol

Image
Song: Candlelight Carol Artist: Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square M E R R Y C H R I S T M A S ! ! I've had another wonderful Christmas! It didn't end up being a "white" Christmas (the first time in years ) and although I was bummed and super disappointed about it, I still had a great day exchanging gifts with family, eating delicious food and visiting loved ones. I wish everyone could be as blessed as I am. I truly hope to keep the spirit of Christmas with me all through the year! Also, I have been planning on posting this song since last Christmas on Christmas day! I thought it was so beautiful and tender after hearing it during church. So, Merry Christmas! How do you capture the wind on the water? How do you count all the stars in the sky? How do you measure the love of a mother Or how can you write down a baby's first cry? Candlelight, angel light, firelight and star-glow Shine on his cradle till breaking of dawn Silent night, holy night, all

On the Eleventh Day of Christmas.....

Song: O Holy Night Artist: Celine Dion For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. ( Isaiah 9:6 & 2 Nephi 19:6 ) Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this. ( Isaiah 9:7 & 2 Nephi 19:7 ) O Holy night, the stars are brightly shining It is the night of our dear Savior's birth Long lay the world in sin and error pining 'Til He appeared and the soul felt its worth A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn Fall on your knees O hear the angel voices O night divine! O night when Christ was born O night divine! O night, O nigh

The Night Before Christmas

Image
Song: The Night Before Christmas Artist: Amy Grant M E R R Y C H R I S T M A S E V E ! ! ! It's the most beautiful, magical, wonderful time of the year! I am so thankful to be spending another Christmas with my family! I am so grateful for how blessed my family and I truly are. I am grateful we get to be all together and exchange gifts and eat good food, watch our favorite Christmas movies, put together puzzles, etc. I feel so very blessed and fortunate. This song just seems appropriate for this Christmas Eve ;) Not only because of the wonderful  message but also because it actually is the night before Christmas! Children carry through the streets A brightly painted star Angels gather 'round the hearth Strumming on guitars And men of great renown and faith Say prayers on boulevards It's the night before Christmas But you don't have to be an angel To sing harmony You don't have to be a child To love the mystery And you don't have to be a

On the Tenth Day of Christmas....

Image
Song: We Three Kings Artist: The Hound + The Fox (feat. Tim Foust) The Three Wise Kings brought their best and most precious gifts to honor the most precious gift. What "gifts" can I give to my Savior? And not just at Christmas, but all throughout the year. I can give him my heart. I can serve as he served. Love as he loved. Refrain from anger and judgment. Bite my tongue. Walk away. Never be ashamed of Him. Love and honor Him all of my days. We must also accept the gift our heavenly father gave us that first Christmas night. Once we have accepted that gift of life, hope and love, can we begin to give our gifts to Him. Because we will come to know and feel of His love for us. For what doth it profit a man if a gift is bestowed upon him, and he receive not the gift? Behold, he rejoices not in that which is given unto him, neither rejoices in him who is the giver of the gift. ( D&C 88:33 ) And angels did appear unto men, wise men, and did declare unto them glad

Song: C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S Artist: Jim Reeves TWO DAYS UNTIL C H R I S T M A S ! ! ! I love this song because it reminds us of the true reason for the season: Christ. "C" is for the Christ Child born upon this day; "H" for herald angels in the night. "R" means our Redeemer; "I" means Israel; "S" is for the star that shone so bright. "T" is for the three wise men, They who travelled far. "M" is for the manger where He lay. "A" is for all He stands for; "S" means shepherds came, And that's why there's a

Song: O Come All Ye Faithful Artist: Josh Groban feat. The Tabernacle Choir on Temple Square ALL faithful people everywhere are invited to COME! Come worship the Heavenly King. Come find him. Let him into your life. Come experience the joy and peace his gospel brings. Come feel of his perfect and pure love for YOU . Come join together with those who are trying their best, who are searching for meaning in their lives. Come discover the JOY Christ can give to us, in unique and individual ways. What give your joy? Find true joy in Christ. Come and receive the gift of C h r i s t m a s that continues to give every day of the year. Go and search diligently for the young child .... that I may come and worship him. ( Matthew 2:8 ) Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. ( Luke 2:14 ) The true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. ( John 1:9 ) He came unto his own... ( John 1:11 ) But as many as received him, to

Christmas Through Your Eyes

Image
Song: Christmas Through Your Eyes Artist: Gloria Estefan I heard this song for the first time a few weeks ago. To be honest, I haven't really listened to it since my first listen back then, but I overheard a part of it today on the radio today and I decided I wanted to listen to it again. So, it's going to be here! I really like what I remember hearing. I can't believe Christmas is in only 3 days! I did some grocery shopping today for Christmas and it was extremely overwhelming and exhausting (not to mention everyone else was doing it too!). I have to remind myself to step back, breathe and remember that it's not about the food or finding the perfect gift, but about the gift. As I sit next to my Christmas tree in the dark, I feel the calm and peace of the season. Till I had you I didn't know That I was missing out Had to grow up and see the world Through different shades of doubt Give me one more chance to dream again One more chance to feel again Thr

On the Eighth Day of Christmas....

Image
Song: Hark! The Herald Angels Sing Artist: Amy Grant The angels remind me of the JOY of the season! That it truly is the most WONDERFUL time of the year, not because of the presents or Santa Claus, gingerbread houses, ice skating or parties, but because of the celebration of the birth of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! We sing carols of praise to Him. GLORY to the NEW BORN KING!! And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them ( Luke 2:9 ) And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. ( Luke 2:10 ) For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. ( Luke 2:11 ) And this shall be a sign unto you; ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. ( Luke 2:12 ) And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, ( Luke 2:13 )

You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch

Image
Song: You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch Artist: Tyler, the Creator I know I've posted this song before but I saw the new Grinch movie and I absolutely LOVED it and have been jamming to this song ever since, hahaha. Of course I still prefer the original (song) to this one but this is kinda cool, right? Come on now, I may be a white girl but I got swag ;) You're a mean one You really are a heel Your as cuddly as a cactus Your as charming as an eel Mr. Grinch You're a bad banana (Mr. Grinch) With the greasy black peel You're a vile one You got termites in your smile You have all the tender sweetness Of a seasick crocodile (Mr. Grinch) You're a foul one Friends you don't have none I wouldn't touch you with a 39 and a half foot pole You're a monster Your heart's an empty hole (You're a goner) You have garlic in your soul All them smiles homie I turn up the frown All them decorations I tear em down You can ask Max I

On the Seventh Day of Christmas....

Image
Song: The First Noel Artist: David Archuleta What is the meaning of the word Noel ? According to this website, it reads:  In French,  joyeux noel  means “Merry Christmas.” Our modern English word comes from the Middle English  nowel , which Webster’s 1828 Dictionary defined as “a shout of joy or Christmas song.” The roots of the word are the French  noel  (“Christmas season”), which may come from the Old French  nael . This, in turn, is derived from the Latin  natalis , meaning “birth.” Since Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Christ, it was natural for people to refer to the celebration as the “nativity” or the “birth.”  In short, Noel means "birth"-day which would make the first Noel the first birthday! At least of the Savior's, the most important birthday in the world! So, when we sing this beautiful carol, think of it as singing "Happy Birthday" to Jesus Christ! For some reason, I have always loved thinking about the Shepherds at Christmas

Cold December Night

Image
Song: Cold December Night Artist: Michael Buble My sister showed this song to me at the very end of last year, so I have been enjoying listening to it all December this year. It's such a cute little love song and Michael Buble has such a wonderful voice that it is a JOY to listen to! I've heard a ton of Michael Buble this holiday season, he seems to be the most popular/requested artist on all the radio stations! I love his old-time feeling voice and how he try's to keep to the classic and traditional versions of beloved Christmas songs from Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra. I've been loving listening to more of his awesome Christmas music this year! Stockings are hung with care As Children sleep with one eye open Well, now there's more than toys at stake Cause I'm older now but not done hoping. The twinkling of the lights The scent of candles fill the household Old Saint Nick has taken flight With a heart on board so please be careful. Each year

On the Sixth Day of Christmas....

Image
Song: Away in a Manger Artist: Pentatonix And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. ( Luke 2:7 ) ...  Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. ( Luke 2:12 ). The manger reminds me of humble beginnings. When the Savior of the world was first brought into the world, he didn't even have a bed to lay in. There was no hospital, staffed with nurses and doctors to make sure he was healthy, safe and warm. There were no congratulatory flowers sent. No home to return to, with a fancy nursery packed-full of new clothes, toys, books and a fancy, new crib. He used what he had and that was enough. Sometimes in this world of plenty, and especially where I live, in a particularly wealthy area, it is hard not to envy the fancy trappings and goods of others. When those around me seem to have the latest in fashion, home decor, electronics, cars and beauty.

Caroling, Caroling

Image
Song: Caroling, Caroling Artist: Nat King Cole This song has been stuck in my head all day long, so I decided to share! Such a fun song! It makes me want to go caroling and share Christmas joy through song! I love this time of year and Christmas music :) Caroling, caroling now we go Christmas bells are ringing Caroling, caroling through the snow Christmas bells are ringing Joyous voices sweet and clear Sing the sad of heart to cheer Ding, dong, ding, dong Christmas bells are ringing (Caroling, caroling through the town) Christmas bells are ringing (Caroling, caroling up and down) Oh, Christmas bells are ringing (Mark ye well the song we sing) (Gladsome tidings now we bring) Ding, dong, ding, dong Christmas bells are ringing (Caroling, caroling now we go) It's Christmas (Joyous voices sweet and clear) (Sing the sad of heart to cheer) Ding, dong, ding, dong Ding, dong, ding, dong Oh, caroling, caroling through the town Christmas bells are ringing

On the Fifth Day of Christmas....

Image
Song(s): What Child Is This? & Mary, Did You Know? Artists: Josh Groban and Pentatonix We return to Mary, as she wondered at the miracle of this Holy Child who slept peacefully in her arms. I love the scripture that reads, "But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart." ( Luke 2:19 ). I hope to take more time, in this final week leading up to Christmas, to ponder. Ponder the true meaning and message of Christmas. Ponder on my relationship with Christ. Ponder on the significance of his birth and the impact of his life and how it affects my life every day. More scriptures that refer to Mary from The Book of Mormon and Bible:  Isaiah 7:14 , 1 Nephi 11:13, 15, 18, 20 , Alma 7:10 , Luke 1:26-31 , Luke 2:5-7, 19 The song What Child Is This? fits perfectly with the message and theme of pondering.  What child is this, who, laid to rest On Mary's lap, is sleeping? Whom angels greet with anthems sweet, While shepherds watch are keeping? T
