Happy Windsday!

Image
OK. I really could NOT help myself with this one!! Today just happens to be a Wednesday.....and it just happens to be quite "blustery" outside where I live....and this month I have been reading and watching a lot of Winnie the Pooh in honor of A.A. Milne's birthday a couple days back ....and as I was out walking my dog and holding onto my hat so it wouldn't be swept away I thought "Hey! It's  literally  a Winds- day!" 😛 Yeah, I know. I'm the cheesiest of all the cheesiness in the world but there ya go! I had to "celebrate" this coincidental, book/Disney-nerd moment in my life 😁 So. In honor of this blustery day, as Pooh Bear himself would say, HAPPY WINDS-DAY!

MLK Day 2020!

HAPPY MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. DAY! I have been reading a book this month written by Reverend King ( A Stride Toward Freedom: The Montgomery Story) along with re-reading the simple biography that I had read last year in honor of this holiday. Again, I have been impressed and inspired by this great man and his courage and willingness to fight injustice through moral and non-violent ways. I have also been extremely inspired by the hundreds of African Americans who chose to follow him by boycotting, sit-ins, walking in peaceful protests and even going to prison. My heart hurt reading about the Children's Crusade and the way children were treated by grown "men." The four little girls killed in the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing. The horror of the KKK. The intense violence and persecution so many people faced as they marched from Selma to Birmingham. It's all so terribly sad. I have spent the day reading my books, reading A Letter From A Birmingham Jail (so inspir

Return to Pooh Corner

Song: Return to Pooh Corner Artist: Kenny Loggins feat. Amy Grant HAPPY WINNIE THE POOH DAY !! Today is the birthday of Alan Alexander Milne (A.A. Milne) the man who introduced the world to the delightful stories of Winnie the Pooh! Inspired by his son, Christopher Robin, he wrote stories all about his son's adventures with his stuffed animals, mainly his teddy bear that was originally named Edward Bear. After a visit to the London Zoo, Christopher Robin was introduced to a sweet and gentle bear named Winnie. Winnie had been rescued by a Dr. Harry Colebourn as a cub and stayed with Dr. Colebourn and his troop as they prepared for WWII (Dr. Colebourn was a veterinarian who was enlisted in the army to care for the men's horses). Dr. Colebourn knew the war was too dangerous for Winnie so he took her to the London Zoo where she could be taken care of and would be kept safe as he prepared to leave for France.* A beautiful friendship blossomed between Christopher Robin and

Song: Man in the Mirror Artist: Michael Jackson Charting at #1 on Billboard's Hot 100 in 1987, this incredible song was released exactly 33 years ago today!! And exactly 12 years ago, in 2008 this song became one of my most favorite songs ever. It was the beginning of my MJ fandom-hood (that I hadn't even realized had begun). I think this song is fitting, not only to commemorate the blessed day it graced the world's presence with it's awesomeness, but because Martin Luther King Jr. Day is coming up. I have been reading a book by Martin Luther King Jr. this month and I think he would have appreciated this song. He was a great man. A brave man. And someone who truly lived by it's message. That message has always felt relevant to me and for me in my own life and I was touched so deeply the first time I heard it as a young teenager. I think it is the wake up call everyone need. Compromise

Image
Song: Compromise Artist: Hanson Starting the year off with some Hanson!! Feeling very nostalgic at the moment :) I spent my entire walk listening to these guys today and I really connected with this beautiful song. I won't go into detail but it is currently the song that not only speaks to me, but that is speaking for me. This year has gotten off to a little bit of a stressful start and conversations and other situations haven't gone very well.... Why does it feel so hard To give just a little trust Feels like juggling in the dark And all you end up is cut Going along getting along believing One day things will change but all you feel is Compromised I cannot explain it Why we always take it Compromise We know what it gets us So why don't we just make a Compromise Compromise Giving more than you can Trying to make things work Fighting in a ship on the ocean floor Dying over who drowns first Too hurt to try anymore and so you give in Thinking on

Song: Auld Lang Syne (Happy New Year Song) Artist: Peter & Evynne Hollens & Anna Gilbert HAPPY 2020!!! I can't believe we are here at the very beginning of a brand new year once more!! Wow. I started this blog clear back in 2014....and I'm still going strong!! I don't really know what my plans are for my blog in this new year.....I mean, I literally have no followers....I just do it for myself and pretend like there's anyone out there that actually cares or relates to me. But, I still love blogging! Especially about my music! So for now, I'll just keep doing what I do. I will blog about the songs that mean something to me, that speak to me and for me, my monthly challenges, etc. Here's to another great year of musical blogging!! I'm going to be honest.....2019 was a really hard year. So was 2018. I got really depressed last night in the midst of my family's celebrating. Usually I feel so excited for the new year! I'm always so ready t
