HANSON DAY 2022 KICK OFF!

Welcome to HANSON DAYZ 2022!

Although I'm not fortunate enough to attend this very special Hanson Day in person, they are doing the most to include all their fans, by giving us a week of streams, games & concerts! I'm stoked! They are so good to their fans and do so much for us. It's special to be a part of their community. I recommend it.

Today things kick off with the first 5 of 5 Streaming concert: Middle of Nowhere! I've always wanted to see these filmed concerts in their entirety. Back in 2010 before the release of their 5th studio album Shout It Out, Hanson did 5 nights of concerts where they performed each of their previously released albums, in order, every song; ending the week premiering their "new album." How cool it would've been to have seen all of those shows live and then get a live concert premiering the newest music! They had each of these shows filmed and they are available to purchase in the Hanson.net store. They're a little pricey for me right now, but I'd love to buy them all someday to add to my ever growing Hanson collection! They are so good live!! I'm grateful they are streaming these this week!

5 of 5 Night 1 - Middle of Nowhere

INSANE! ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜ญ๐ŸŽ‰ This was such an incredible show! Every song was perfect. ๐Ÿงก I love that they never hesitate to play their old stuff; they respect it which makes me respect them even more! Many artists seem to try to distance themselves from the music that "made" them and gave them their start (I'm looking at you Disney channel stars...) but Hanson has always honored their work. Plus, they make it sound so good and even current singing those songs in their "older voices!" With You In Your Dreams will forever hit different for me then it did before. ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿค It was a beautiful rendition where they had the whole crowd join in with them so it sounded like a big choir.  I remember they did that when they played it during the Storytellers Concert in 2017 (that I was there for!). One of my favorite parts of the show was when Zac started singing "Turn me loose! Like a one-eyed goose!" at the end of Look At You! It was so funny and nostalgic to hear him do that! I think that was the one and only time he's ever done that since recording MON! Where's the Love is always so much fun live! They really rock out HARD! It's such a groove!

EP Listening Party - White Rabbit ๐Ÿ‡๐Ÿค

OK. Shut the front door! I'm always wondering if the day will come when Hanson writes something bad...that's not to say I love every, single song they've ever written (most, yes. But not all) but every song is still generally good. I don't think it's ever going to happen at this point because 25 years in and their music is getting BETTER!? I think I have a new favorite EP!! First of all, the name. When they announced the name of the EP the first thing my mind went to was Alice in Wonderland which is no surprise if you know me at all. So I was already excited to hear the make-up of these songs and why it inspired the title name...

Strange World - Right off the bat the EP opens up with a beautiful Zac lead solo that literally sounds like magic! ✨ It sounds like Wonderland! Honestly, when Disney re-makes Alice in Wonderland (as we know they will at some point...they're re-making all the classics ๐Ÿ˜‘) this song has to be featured in it! It simply must! Ugh. It's so freaking good! And the lyrics?? Don't get me started!! You know how I feel about lyrics...especially Hanson lyrics. They are masters at their craft! I dare you to fight me on that. The perfect way to start this EP! ๐Ÿค

Trembling - THIS.SONG! OMYGOSH! It is SO GOOD! UGH!! The arrangement, melody, lyrics, beat, everything! It is power pop perfection at it's absolute best! It makes me "SMILE just a little bit!" #iykyk It has a very similar vibe to Stop Me in My Tracks which is one of my favorite EP songs ever - featured on 2016's Loud EP. Many people were saying this made them think of the song Jesse's Girl which I don't totally agree with but I can see where they're coming from! It's super guitar driven and catchy! I'm OBSESSED with this song!! ๐Ÿ’—

Happy - Zac lead. It's such a feel good song that makes you wanna dance! This song ties into the "Wonderland" theme as it gives this sense of skipping along, taking in the beauty, goodness and happiness of the world around you...of course it's not all tea parties and singing flowers but there is a sense of unbridled excitement in Alice's adventures that this song exudes! "Cause I'm HAPPY! Happy to be alive!"

Your Eyes - Isaac lead. He is such a softie! ๐Ÿค It's a very "Isaac" song meaning it's a sweet, love ballad to his daughter! Yes, he melts your heart once again by dedicating yet another tender song to his precious baby girl! "I’ll grow old and you will find another, who sees in your eyes what I saw in your mothers. And I’ll always need your smile, some things will never change you stole my heart, the first time I looked in your eyes" ๐Ÿ’“ Wow. Those lyrics make me think of my dad and makes me emotional! ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Climb - Taylor ends our adventure with the most inspiring, powerful, beautiful song! I had chills all over my body listening to this for the first time. Not to sound dramatic, but it brings tears to my eyes. ๐Ÿ’“ I think about Alice and the end of her time in Wonderland, going back to reality. Realizing that life is not meant to be easy. We have to face the hard realties of "real life" as tempting as it is to lose ourselves in our make believe worlds. But the journey is in those hard times; that's where we learn and grow the most. The message is somewhat similar to Miley Cyrus's The Climb but a thousand times better! (Also, I just want to point out that Miley wasn't involved in the creative process of that song...she just sang it). One of the first things that came to mind while I was listening to this song was my baby brother. He graduates from High School in only two short weeks. ๐Ÿ˜ฐ I want to dedicate this song to him. ๐Ÿ’• But, obviously, I feel it's message is for me too in moving forward with my life and continuing to push through the hard things "scratching and scraping just to face your fear of heights." I'm literally getting emotional thinking about it right now! ๐Ÿ˜ญ Just as Strange World was the perfect way to start, Climb is the perfect song to end with. ✨๐Ÿค

As you can see, Hanson Dayz is already starting off on a very HIGH note! I loved getting to "listen" to this new music for the first time while chatting with other fans...feeding off one another's energy, excitement and passion for this band and the music they create. It was a lot of fun to have people to "geek out" with! Looking forward to the rest of this week! ๐Ÿ˜„
