October 10th has been a historically "Hanson song day" for my blog in the past. If you don't understand my meaning, please see here, here and here (and here) for reference. As I was reminiscing this fact today, and listening to the Play EP which was released 7 years ago (!) today, I thought, there is no one better to share music from then the "freakishly" talented trio of brothers that is HANSON!

Back in 2020, Hanson's first livestream concert since the pandemic screwed the world over was a tribute to their incredible 2005 album The Best of Hanson: Live & Electric celebrating it's 15 YEAR (!) anniversary. I watched that concert on this day, two years ago and it was so ELECTRIC!🗲 INCREDIBLE! MIND-BLOWING! 🤯 I've still never forgotten that crazy-cool transition from Look At You into a cover of It's Your Thing! It was SO GOOD!! Ugh, sorry for the fan-girling but I mean, come on. Taylor's soul y'all? Unbeatable. He was feeling it! 

Anyway, this eerie cover of Radiohead's Optimistic opened the show and it was sick! It's also the opening number on the album and has always been a stand out performance! Really showcases Hanson's versatility and pure, honest talent. It's got such an eerie, dramatic vibe that is also sort of creepy....sounds a bit post-apocalyptic. It also reminds me a little bit of Hanson's own song Panic in the Streets (featured very early on in my Halloween music sharing days!). 

Yay for Hanson making another appearance (there are quite a few Hanson songs sprinkled throughout my playlist of spooky tunes) on my epic Halloween playlist!! It's been a while.

Song: Siren Call Artist: Hanson This song is off of Hanson's Fan Club EP: Loud (2016). I have been slightly obsessed with this haunting song as of late. This song is about dealing with depression ( Zac Hanson even said so ! Be forewarned, explicit language is used in this video. I'm so sorry). Once I heard Zac explain the meaning and message behind this song it made so much sense to me! I have always loved it and I've always known it had a powerful message but I could never quite figure out what it was. This song is about struggling. Being weighed-down by the burdens and challenges life brings to each and every one of us. When we stop and allow ourselves to "give in" to the pain and sadness that comes with the stress of life, that's when we begin to slip and fall into a deep depression.
