DISCLAIMER: I haven't been very motivated to start my annual "Halloween Song Challenge." I haven't been motivated for much these days. It's still hard dealing with the loss of my life. I don't feel the same giddy excitement and anticipation of the fall and holiday season this year. In fact, what's usually my most favorite time of the year feels depressing and dull. I'm still sifting through my feelings of anguish, grief and guilt. I feel guilty trying to pretend like everything is fine and normal again. Each passing day it gets easier for this "new normal" to become my normal. And I hate that! I don't want to get used to this! But I know I can't act and feel this way forever. At some point, I have to move on. And in ways, it seems like I have. I interact with my family. I laugh. I listen to music. I eat. I watch movies and TV. I read. I do all the things I thought I could never do again without my best friend. All the things that remind me of him. There's still some things I haven't been able to do yet like go on a walk by myself and look at the Halloween decorations in my neighborhood. Enjoying the autumn weather. Walking through leaves and hearing them crunch beneath my feet. The guilt still eats away at me but I'm going to try to find joy and honor my puppy's memory. It's going to be hard but I'm going to try. 


I know I'm super late to the game this year but better late then never right?

I have to kick things off with my HALLOWEEN KING ♚🎃 MICHAEL JACKSON of course! His music has been a lifesaver for me these past couple of months. I even discovered brand new songs I'd never heard before that I've completely fallen in love with. What can I say? The man is a legend! RIP. 🖤

Another Part of Me is featured on Michael Jackson's Bad album and is featured in the short film Captain EO. Captain EO has become a new Halloween "tradition" for me these past couple of years. I watch it at least once during October. It may be a stretch for some but for me it fits the season perfectly with it's aliens and outer space theme. Plus, Michael's costume is totally Halloween vibes!

Song: Siren Call Artist: Hanson This song is off of Hanson's Fan Club EP: Loud (2016). I have been slightly obsessed with this haunting song as of late. This song is about dealing with depression ( Zac Hanson even said so ! Be forewarned, explicit language is used in this video. I'm so sorry). Once I heard Zac explain the meaning and message behind this song it made so much sense to me! I have always loved it and I've always known it had a powerful message but I could never quite figure out what it was. This song is about struggling. Being weighed-down by the burdens and challenges life brings to each and every one of us.
