HAPPY DECEMBER!! 🎄🎅

After a long, dark night, I have awaken to the light of a new day and am feeling a little better. I prayed for peace and the ability to find the excitement and joy of Christmas again and I already feel like that's beginning to happen. 🙏 It helps that it's lightly and beautifully snowing outside right now!! ❄

I decided in honor of December and the start of my yearly CHRISTMAS MUSIC ADVENT, I would finally do my OFFICAL "LIVE" listening party for the new tracks from Pentatonix's The Greatest Christmas Hits album! I'm SO EXCITED!! Now, I know I just recently posted a new song from them a few days ago and wasn't necessarily a fan...but I still have high hopes for the rest of the album so let's get this party started!! 🎉🎄 My "official song post" will be a video of whatever my favorite song ends up being (see below)!!

O Holy Night - Welp. I had high hopes for this song and....I didn't love it. Again. 😞 It started out promising... I think they tried to be too "fancy" with it; lots of riffs and belts, hand clapping, etc. I personally prefer their original version to this, the simplicity of it helps capture the spirit of the lyrics, although I did like the inclusion of the second verse in this rendition. Disappointed since this is one of my most favorite Christmas songs. It's not that it's bad but it just didn't fill my soul with the usual magic that PTX Christmas music usually does right off the bat. Not off to the best start so far...two songs in and I haven't loved either one! 😬

Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) - I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high for this one but....I'm REALLY excited!! I hope it's good! 🤞 THIS IS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!! 😍 Fun and creative arrangement with that "iconic" PTX sound. Love this one, so fun! And everyone had a chance to shine 🤩 Yay for my first success of the album!!

Pure Imagination/Christmas Time Is Here - Giving this one another, fresh listen....let's see if it's grown on me at all....again, the beginning is beautiful! Ya know what...I actually do like this a lot better the second go around! I'm honestly pleasantly surprised!! I think since I'm in better spirits, I can appreciate it more! YAY!! 🎉

Please Santa Please - I've heard snippets of this song since it was their first single released and they've used it in a ton of their social media videos...and they performed it during the Macey's Thanksgiving Day Parade! I'm excited to finally hear the whole thing...so far it sounds like a fun one!! And it's an original! The beginning! It sounds like Polar Express a little, haha. Always love a good Kirstie lead 😊 This one might be the winner today, I love it!! It's very cute and is giving me Underneath the Tree vibes! And even though it is more of a "romantic" based song...I actually don't hate it!! 😅 It's too fun and catchy!

O Little Town Of Bethlehem(feat. Elvis Presley) - I don't love when they do these types of songs...where they just add their vocals behind a classic rendition of a song where another artist is the main focus and "star" of the song. I want to hear what PTX themselves could do with it, making it their own and having full control! I also find it to be a little bit of a "cop out" song...😳 But, let's give it a try....oh OK! You go Mitch!! 😍 Kirstie!! 💗 Scott and Elvis duet, let's go! 👏 OK, I judged this way too quickly, I actually really enjoyed this!! I think they balanced it perfectly. The arrangement was simple and pretty. Wow! I'm surprised at how much I liked that!! Good job PTX!! 💕

Kiss From A Rose - I've been excited to hear how this one goes! This is already off to a FANTASTIC start!! From the harmonies and Kevin on the cello....😍🤩 MAGICAL!! Oh yeah! This is 🔥! Love hearing Matt get some time to SHINE! This is actually so cool! I wish I'd shared this one in November instead of Pure Imagination/Christmas Time Is Here. This is AMAZING!! LOVE!! ELECTRIC CELLO?? Sick. THIS is the PTX I know and love!! I'm feeling much, much happier and better now!!

Children, Go Where I Send Thee - Not sure if this is an original or not...I'm guessing not, but I've never heard of the song so I don't know. Very intrigued...well this is fun!! It's like a countryfied, extra Christmasy 12 Day of Christmas kinda, haha. I LOVE this one!! That was SO FUN!! It will be getting it's own post eventually because this might be one of my top three favorites from the album!! Love, love, LOVE IT!! 💕 BTW, I just looked it up and see a version by Kenny Rodgers, Hall and Oats AND Peter, Paul and Mary (who were probably the original singers), oh! And Johnny Cash. So I have no idea who sang the original but they freaking KILLED IT!!

Little Toy Trains - Always sad to reach the final song 😢 Let's keep this momentum going!! .... Not expecting this....but it's gorgeous and nostalgic and heartwarming! 💗 Reminds me of River. That was honestly so magical and beautiful it makes me emotional! It brings back the innocence of childhood wonder and anticipation Christmas Eve night. 😭💓 That was a wonderful, sweet way to end the album. Off to a magical Christmas dreamland! ✨

In the end, this album came together and I LOVED it!! O Holy Night is still iffy for me, but I ended up really loving everything else!! This makes me SO HAPPY!! This was a FANTASTIC way to start December, I'm feeling alllll the Christmas feels right now!! 😭😍💓 I needed this!! Thank you for always coming through PTX!! Your Christmas music brings me so much HAPPINESS!!! Love, love, love it!!
