Grateful For Music Challenge Day 10
Song: I Just Called to Say I Love You
Artist: Pentatonix
The Kings & Queen of Christmas made my heart so happy several weeks ago when they announced their 6th full-length Christmas album Evergreen would be dropping at the end of October! 😍 You'll have to wait until next month to hear most of the songs from it, but they added a few "regular" songs to their holiday album that fit the month of November perfectly. And you get one of them today.
This was their first single from the album and it is absolutely STUNNING! Mitch and Kirstie's voices SHINE in this song! Gorgeous. Their arrangement changes the whole meaning of the song and gets me right in the feels every time I listen to it! 😭 It's a fitting choice for today since I just spent several hours visiting with my sweet 92 year old grandmother. I always get so emotional whenever I see her. She is the sweetest, wisest woman I know who is always dropping little pearls of wisdom. For 92 (93 next month!) years old she is killing it! She is sharp, coherent and although she moves slower and tends to repeat herself quite a lot, she has a pretty decent memory and is always sharing stories and memories from her lifetime. I've also been reading her life-history that she published a few years ago. It makes me want to cry, she has lived such a beautiful life! And she has endured so many hardships and challenges with an unfailing faith I can hardly comprehend. She is wonder woman! So strong, caring, loving, gentle with the purest soul.
This song makes me think of my grandma and many of my family members who live far away. The message of this song makes me realize how important it is to let the ones you love know. To reach out more often and show them I care. Visiting with them. Sending them a picture. Baking them a treat. Calling them on the phone. Writing to them. It's the small things that mean the most. 💛 My goal this holiday season is to serve my family more (a principle I was richly taught this afternoon from my grandmother) and spend more individual time with them. Family is what life is all about.
No New Year's Day to celebrate
No chocolate covered candy hearts to give away
No first of Spring, no song to sing
In fact here's just another ordinary day
I just called to say I love you
I just called to say how much I care
I just called to say I love you
And I mean it from the bottom of my heart
Of my heart
No Libra sun
No Halloween
No giving thanks to all the Christmas joy you bring
But what it is, though old so new
To fill your heart like no three words could ever do
I just called to say I love you
I just called to say how much I care
I just called to say I love you
And I mean it from the bottom of my heart
Of my heart
Of my heart
Of my heart
I just called to say I love you
I just called to say how much I care
I just called to say I love you
And I mean it from the bottom of my heart
Yes I mean it from
Yes I mean it from
Yes I mean it from the bottom of my heart
*The original version is worth a listen as well 😊
