Holy Week: Good Friday
Good Friday
"After suffering in Gethsemane for the sins of all people, Jesus is betrayed into the hands of the local authorities. Following a series of one-sided trials, He is sentenced to death by crucifixion. His suffering for us continues on the cross, and He is surrounded by people who cruelly mock Him. And yet, through it all, Jesus courageously endures, never letting fear keep Him from carrying out His mission to redeem all God’s children. Because of what He did, we can also leave fear behind as we use the power of His sacrifice to become a better version of ourselves." - https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/comeuntochrist/easter-2021/holy-week-day-6-good-friday
Read the account of the Savior's suffering in Gethsemane: Luke 22:39-44
Update from yesterday's question - My sweet little puppy dog is on the mend!! There has been more improvement (it's not 100% cleared up but it's definitely better than it was!). I am overwhelmed with gratitude! So much so, that last night while I was lying in bed, thinking about everything I started crying, but this time it was tears of JOY and GRATITUDE!! I am so thankful for a merciful Father in Heaven. I am so grateful for the power of prayer and fasting. I know my boy is old and things will eventually get worse and worse until the point where there's nothing I can do for him anymore but for now, he is OK. And I truly believe in my heart of hearts that God will continue to keep my puppy healthy enough until I'm ready. Until I've gotten to a point where I'll be OK without him (as much as possible). Thank you Father. God is GOOD! God is GREAT! ππ
#STARTINGTODAY: I'm Taking the Leap
Striving and Overcoming Reflect: Starting today, what's something you've tried before to become closer to Jesus Christ that you can try again? - Study the scriptures daily. To give up the things in my life that draw me away from Christ. I attempted participating in Lent this year. I wasn't perfect, but I did better than I have in the past. Thinking back on my experience with giving something up for over a month was actually very rewarding. Refreshing. Cleansing. I want to do that more often. To give something up that is a privilege but not necessary. To give something up that is difficult but the end result is greater perspective. I think it will help me draw closer to my Savior and help me feel happier.

Song: The Old Rugged Cross
Artist: Carrie Underwood
On a hill far away, stood an old rugged cross
The emblem of suffering and shame
And I love that old cross where the dearest and best
For a world of lost sinners was slain
So I'll cherish the old rugged cross
Till my trophies at last I lay down
I will cling to the old rugged cross
And exchange it some day for a crown
In the old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine
A wondrous beauty I see
For 'twas on that old cross, Jesus suffered and died
To pardon and sanctify me
So I'll cherish the old rugged cross
Till my trophies at last I lay down
I will cling to the old rugged cross
And exchange it some day for a crown
Ooh...
Yeah...
Yes, I'll cherish the old rugged cross
Till my trophies at last I lay down
I will cling to the old rugged cross
And exchange it some day for a crown
Yes, I'll cherish the old rugged cross
And exchange it some day for a crown
BONUS SONG!!!
Song: I Wonder As I Wander
Artist: Simon Khorolskiy
So, I know this is traditionally more of a "Christmas song" but I find it appropriate for the Easter Season as well, especially today on Good Friday. "For Jesus My Savior did come for to die." I was planning on sharing the version I am most familiar with which is by Jewel from her Christmas album but after listening to it... I found it a little boring π¬... and then I discovered this EPIC version on youtube! Literally gave me chills! It's incredible!!
I wonder as I wander, out under the sky
How Jesus my Savior, did come for to die
For poor ordinary people like you and like I
I wonder as I wander, out under the sky
I wonder as I wander, out under the sky
How Jesus my Savior, did come for to die
For poor ordinary people like you and like I
I wonder as I wander, out under the sky
If Jesus had wanted for any small thing
A star in the sky or a bird on the wing
Or all of God's angels in heaven to sing
He surely could have it, because
He was the King
Ohhh yes! He was the King!
Hallelujah!
Or all of God's angels in heaven to sing
He surely could have it!
I wonder as I wander, out under the sky
How Jesus my Savior, did come for to die
For poor ordinary people like you and like I
I wonder as I wander, out under the sky
