HAPPY BIRTHDAY DR. SEUSS!!

Cancel culture is NOT coming for Dr. Seuss!! NO WAY!

I was sorely disappointed to read article after article about Dr. Seuss being a "racist" and that 6 of his books will no longer be published. Really? That's what you're going to talk about today, ON HIS BIRTHDAY!?! I have been "celebrating" Dr. Seuss's birthday for a few years and have always (in the past) found articles that commemorate this great author and pay tribute to his amazing contribution to children's literature. But this year, and I guess I'm not really that surprised, it was all "dR. sEuSs Is RaCiSt!" I'm not denying that some of his early political cartoons were racist...because they absolutely were! But remember, that was in a different time. People can change. He apologized for those early cartoons (which were not even associated with the children's books we know and love him for). People need to STOP trying to erase history and STOP being offended!! Especially when these "woke" people are usually white people who want to bring "racist" things up to make themselves look like they're so understanding? Apologetic? to BIPOC people/issues. It is what it is! MOVE ON. LEARN FROM THE PAST!!!

I wanted to hear what (rational) people had to say about all of this and found a few videos that I thought were refreshing and agreed with (most coming from people of color btw).

Check them out:

Dr. Seuss Canceled For Racist Cartoons?!? - PREACH! His voice is so calming

Dr. Seuss Has Been Canceled By Angry Leftists - Fair warning: This is Ben Sharpio, a conservative commentator so some might feel this is too biased. I don't listen to him very often but I do agree with him on the few things I've heard from him.

6 Dr. Seuss Books Ceasing Publication - The View - I'm SHOCKED but I actually agree with a few of these ladies (notably Whoopi Golberg and Joy Behar - even MORE shocking!)! I NEVER agree with this show and NEVER watch it (I think it's incredibly one sided and biased) but I concur with their points (mainly Whoopi's).

Now that we got THAT drama out of the way... it's time for me to try my monthly Dr. Seuss Reading Challenge Again (my libraries haven't gotten rid of these "offensive books" yet so I'd better read 'em while I still can!). For the past two years, I have set a goal to read every Dr. Seuss book in order throughout the entire month of March, but have failed to complete this goal both years. Two years ago I got really close and then last year COVID happened and the libraries shut down so I was stopped in my tracks! But THIS IS GOING TO BE MY YEAR! I'm doing it y'all!

It feels like a "challenge" more than EVER all things considered....
