Grateful For Music Challenge Day 9

Song: MMMBop
Artist: Hanson

Remember how much I love Hanson? Remember how this entire blog was inspired by Hanson and my love for their music?? Remember my original post of this song? Remember how this blogs URL is literally mmmbop21.blogspot.com!? I am feeling super nostalgic right now as I post this incredible version of this iconic song!

Hanson's String Theory album is out NOW!! It's public so anyone and everyone should go buy it immediately! I got a sneak preview (courtesy of my VIP Hanson.net membership privileges) of this album in it's entirety and it BLEW my mind! It exceeded my expectations of what this album would be like 100 fold! It was amazing! Incredible! Inspiring! Beautiful! Check out my notes and first impressions/reactions to each song, while listening live, hereString Theory is a compilation of Hanson songs (from their 21 years worth of music!) that tell an incredible story of aspiration. The story is told from the eyes of a little boy. It begins with songs of optimism, hope and joy like MMMBop, Where's the Love and Joyful Noise. A belief that he can do anything! He is hopeful and belives in himself and his dreams. Then, this little boy begins to grow up. He begins to experience challenges. Trials. Heartbreak. He doubts the things he once held to be true. He doubts himself. He feels lost and alone. This turmoil and self-doubt is told through songs such as Tragic Symphony, Siren Call and Me, Myself and I. Then, part 2 of the story begins. The little boy wants to fight! He wants to push through. It's an uphill battle, he is bruised, scraped up, tired and battle worn, but he is still fighting! Powerful anthems such as This Time Around, Battle Cry and You Can't Stop Us bring that perfect feeling of someone who is prepared for and in the midst of battle! Even with this determination to endure the difficult struggles of life, he still experiences doubt and fear that we can feel through the songs Broken Angel, Breaktown and What Are We Fighting For? In the end, this little boy who is becoming a man, will keep going. He won't give up! He knows that there will always be opposition and trouble. But that won't stop him from chasing his dreams and trying his best! This section of String Theory was my favorite with beautiful arrangements of songs like No Rest For the Weary and I Was Born! The album ends with the song Tonight which is all about living your life the best that you can and not giving up. The ending notes are the exact same notes that the entire album began with. It comes full circle and leaves you feeling inspired!

I can't say enough good things about this unique and inspired album! Hanson's songs are amplified with an incredible Orchestra backing them up that brings a strength, softness and power that wasn't there before! From the strings to the brass to Hanson still rocking their keyboard, guitar and drums this album will take you on a musical journey like none other! Hanson has created a story through their own music, that is relatable and applicable to everyone. We can all relate. We were all children once with the unconquerable spirit of faith and belief. We all grow up and experience challenges. But, just as the boy from our story, we can still choose to fight and renew our faith in ourselves and our dreams! We only have one life to live, we need to make the most of it!

I know this is super long winded but I can't even find the words adequate to describe my gratitude for this band and this amazing album they have put together. It is powerful. It is inspiring! I am grateful that I found this band so many years ago. Their music has been so influential in my life. It brings me a joy and happiness unlike anything I've experienced before. I feel a sense of belonging in their music. I am grateful for the gift that Hanson keeps on giving through their songs. Although a great song before I think this is my favorite version of MMMBop! It has such a great feeling to it, the words are sung a little slower so that the message really gets across and the orchestra enhances the whole experience of the song! Go listen to it right now and see what I'm trying to describe! I've done enough "talking." It's time to just listen with your ears, heart and soul.

Oh oh oh oh oh
Yeah

You have so many relationships in this life
Only one or two will last

You go through all the pain and strife
Then you turn your back and they're gone so fast

Oh yeah
And they're gone so fast, yeah
Oh

So hold on the ones who really care
In the end they'll be the only ones there

And when you get old and start losing your hair
Tell me who will still care
Can you tell me who will still care?
Oh care

Mmmbop, ba duba dop
Ba du bop, ba duba dop
Ba du bop, ba duba dop
Ba du
Yeah
Mmmbop, ba duba dop
Ba du bop, Ba du dop
Ba du bop, Ba du dop
Ba du
Yeah

Oh yeah
In an Mmmbop they're gone

Plant a seed, plant a flower, plant a rose
You can plant any one of those
Keep planting to find out which one grows
It's a secret no one knows
It's a secret no one knows
Oh, no one knows

Mmmbop, ba duba dop
Ba du bop, ba duba dop
Ba du bop, ba duba dop
Ba du, yeah
Mmmbop, ba duba dop
Ba du bop, Ba du dop
Ba du bop, Ba du dop
Ba du, yeah

Oh
Yeah oh

In an mmmbop they're gone
In an mmm bop they're not there
In an mmmbop they're gone
In an mmm bop they're not there
Until you lose your hair
Oh
But you don't care, oh baby!

Mmmbop, ba duba dop
Ba du bop, ba duba dop
Ba du bop, ba duba dop
Ba du, yeah
Mmmbop, ba duba dop
Ba du bop, Ba du dop
Ba du bop, Ba du dop
Ba du, yeah

Can you tell me? oh
No you can't 'cause you don't know
Can you tell me? oh
You say you can but you don't know
Can you tell me? oh
(Which flower's going to grow?)
No you can't 'cause you don't know
Can you tell me? oh
(If it's going to be a daisy or a rose?)
You say you can but you don't know
Can you tell me? oh
(which flower's going to grow?)
No you can't 'cause you don't know
Can you tell me? oh
You say you can but you don't know
Oh yeah
You say you can but you don't know
You don't know
You don't know, oh

Mmmbop, ba duba dop
Ba du bop, ba duba dop
Ba du bop, ba duba dop
Ba du, yeah
Mmmbop, ba duba dop
Ba du bop, Ba du dop
Ba du bop, Ba du dop
Ba du, care

Oh
Can u tell me? oh
No you can't 'cause you don't know
Can u tell me? oh
You say you can but you don't know
Can u tell me? oh
No you can't 'cause you don't know
Can u tell me?
You say you can but you don't know
