Grateful For Music Challenge Day 7

Song: Weeping
Artist: Josh Groban

I shouldn't have committed to highlighting Mindy Gledhill this week .... too many songs came rushing into my mind today that I want to share! Also going back to my posts from two years ago and a year ago on this day, the songs were ALL Josh Groban .... so I've decided to continue the tradition :)

This is a forgotten song that I used to LOVE back in 2011!! I remember it was my Senior year of High School and I had a ton of catching up to do and big tests I had to take. I was never good at the whole "school thing." I wasn't a straight A student and I had terrible "testing anxiety and stress." I remember after I would complete each assignment or test I would take a little break and go listen to this song. I especially loved the part that goes: "It doesn't matter now, it's over anyhow..." Ha-ha! I will always associate this song with that time in my life. I am grateful I had this song to help me get through those challenging and stressful moments and have something I could look forward to and use as a "reality escape." It's an amazing song and I'm excited to listen to it again after all these years!

I knew a man who lived in fear
It was huge, it was angry,
It was drawing near.

Behind his house a secret place
Was the shadow of the demon
He could never face.

He built a wall of steel and flame
And men with guns to keep it tame
Then standing back he made it plain
That the nightmare would never ever rise again
But the fear and the fire and the guns remain.

It doesn't matter now it's over anyhow
He tells the world that it's sleeping
But as the night came round
I heard its lonely sound
It wasn't roaring, it was weeping
It wasn't roaring, it was weeping.

And then one day the neighbours came
They were curious to know about the smoke and flame
They stood around outside the wall
But of course there was nothing to be heard at all
"My friends," he said, "We've reached our goal
The threat is under firm control
As long as peace and order reign
I'll be damned if I can see a reason to explain
Why the fear and the fire and the guns remain."

It doesn't matter now it's over anyhow
He tells the world that it's sleeping
But as the night came round
I heard its lonely sound
It wasn't roaring, it was weeping
It wasn't roaring, it was weeping.

Say ah, say ah, say ah
Say ah, say ah, say ah

It doesn't matter now it's over anyhow
It doesn't matter now it's over anyhow

It doesn't matter now it's over anyhow
He tells the world that it's sleeping
But as the night came round
I heard its lonely sound
It wasn't roaring, it was weeping
It wasn't roaring, it was weeping.

Say ah, say ah, say ah
Say ah, say ah, say ah [to end]
