Grateful For Music Challenge Day 4 & 5
Song(s): How Great Thou Art & Hannah's Song
Artist(s): Traditional Hymn covered by Peter Hollens feat. The All-American Boys Chorus & Lex de Azevedo from, Samuel, the boy Prophet
Argh! I forgot to post yesterday!! I was busy and the day got away from me (and in all honesty, I completley and totally spaced my blog challenge). Oh well. I'm going to go ahead and make up for it today. So you get two songs in one!
First song, How Great Thou Art*. Such a beautiful, inspiring and humbling hymn. Peter Hollens has a gorgeous cover on his NEW A Hollens Family Christmas Deluxe album. Since I don't consider this to be only a Christmas song I'm going to go ahead and use it today even though it is currently on two new Christmas albums (Peter's & A Pentatonix Christmas Deluxe). This song reminds me to show my gratitude to God for everything I have and see. For it all comes from Him: "O Lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made; I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy power throughout the universe displayed..."
O Lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
When through the woods, and forest glades I wander,
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees.
When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur
And see the brook, and feel the gentle breeze.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation,
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart.
Then I shall bow, in humble adoration,
And then proclaim, "My God, how great Thou art!"
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, God, how great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Sceond, Hannah's Song. This beautiful song comes from the Living Scriptures show Samuel, the Boy Prophet. This song is about the love a mother has for her child. I have been thinking about & listening to this song a lot lately and it's made me think of my brother who is currently out serving a full-time LDS mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The words make me think of my mother and how much she loves her son, my brother (and all of her children of course). The faith my mother has to allow her son to leave her and to leave home and completely give and dedicate his life to the Lord for two-years to serve Him. "You will leave me, leave to serve the Lord, go in gladness remembering these words...." I am so grateful for my sweet brother who is out serving God's children with a humble heart, full of love for the Savior. I am grateful for my mother who loves her children fiercely but also knows how to let them go and choose their own paths. I am grateful for my mother's love and the prayers that she prays on her children's behalf each and every day.
Oh precious child, I prayed you here
Your mother called for you from afar
Oh, from my lips, to Heavens ear
My earnest prayer was heard, here you are.
Oh, sweetest child, my dream come true
You grew beneath my heart, in my love.
Yet from the first, it seems I knew
You're only here on loan from above.
You will leave me, leave to serve to the Lord
Go in gladness, remembering these words:
Oh dearest child, where e're you go
You never will be far from those who care.
When you're away, you'll always know
The Lord and I are near as a prayer.
Oh, sweetest child, my dream come true
You grew beneath my heart, in my love.
Yet from the first, it seems I knew
You're only here on loan from above.
You will leave me, leave to serve to the Lord
Go in gladness, remembering these words:
Oh dearest child, I prayed you here
Your mother called for you from afar
Oh, from my lips, to Heavens ear
My earnest prayer was heard, here you are.
