Grateful For Music Challenge Day 3

Song: Bridges of Stone
Artist: Hanson

This is a throw-back, unreleased song from waaaaaayyyy back in Hanson lore, lol. I WISH it had been officially released! This song is BEAUTIFUL with deep, hard-hitting lyrics. I've always related to the message of this song...but not from the "singers" perspective...I'm the person the "narrator" is referring to. The one they are beginning to give up on ("You can only push someone so far...You can only wait, you can only wait so long..."). The person who is refusing to change and move on. My older sister is the "narrator." She's tried to help me for years and I've refused and pushed her away time and time again. And now it's too late. She's got a busy and full life raising her two kids (and expecting a third this March!), works two jobs, is involved in her community, works and shares her talents, serves in her church, etc. I'm left with the guilt and regret of never allowing to help me when she was always there.

As you can see, I'm still stuck in my head and despair. I'm also just feeling frustrated at the moment for something petty, selfish and stupid. What a way to start this beautiful time of year right??

On a positive note, I'm grateful for Hanson. Always. 💓

You can only push someone so far
You can only break so many hearts
Used to be love one another, and now it's lust for your lover
Baby, I was trying to burn bridges of stone

You can only wait, you can only wait so long
You can only wait, you can only wait so long
In this game we play you can't tell right from wrong
But you can only wait so long

There goes memories of yesterday
And here come the poetry of all those things I couldn't say
You can only wait so long before your flower petals are all gone
Baby, I was trying to burn bridges of stone

You can only wait, you can only wait so long
You can only wait, you can only wait so long
In this game we play, you can't tell right from wrong
But you can only wait so long
You can only wait, you can only wait so long
You can only wait, you can only wait so long
In this game we play, you can't tell right from wrong
But you can only wait so long

Why couldn't you call out for me? (call out to me)
It's not like I was ever far away (ever far away)
Ohh, looked out into the edge and start too deep [Demo: Ohh, tie me to the edge and start to leave]
And there is nothing left but a million words to say

Ohh, why couldn't you hold on to me?
I was right here, layin' in our bed
Ooh, it's more than all those things I didn't see
It's all those things I never should have said

You can only push someone so far
You can only break so many hearts
We all have memories, and I served my time in pain
Don't give in to enemies, they'll just leave you in the rain
We will find a way somehow through this winding twisting road we've found
You won't find me crying for what used to be home
You won't find me trying to burn bridges of stone

You can only wait, you can only wait so long
You can only wait, you can only wait so long
In this game we play, you can't tell right from wrong
But you can only wait so long
You can only wait, you can only wait so long
You can only wait, you can only wait
In this game we play, you can't tell right from wrong
But you can only wait so long, yeah
You can only wait, you can only wait so long
You can only wait, you can only wait so long
In this game we play, you can't tell right from wrong
But you can only wait so long
In this game we play you can't tell right from wrong
But you can only wait so long
