mad woman & Vigilante Sh**
Song(s): mad woman & Vigilante Sh**
Artist: Taylor Swift
These are my final two T-Swift inspired Halloween songs! I think they fit in quite nicely here. Mad Woman gives me slight Alice in Wonderland vibes (if only for the word "mad"..."We're all MAD here!" πΌ). The overall tone and sound of the song gives off darker, moodier vibes. And the lyrics "strike to kill and you know I will...her claws come out...find something to wrap your noose around...I breathe flames...and women like hunting witches too...wanting me dead...every time you call me crazy, I get more crazy." cReEpY much?? I also just read what Taylor Swift had to say about this song and...it checks out: "A misfit widow getting gleeful revenge on the town that cast her out." π³π This song also reminds me of a book I just recently finished reading called Magic Lessons by Alice Hoffman...it is very "witchy" as it's centered around a witch and her experiences in places like Salem, Massachusetts in the 1600's π§♀️π§Ή It was a spooky read, perfect for this time of year!
What did you think I'd say to that?
Does a scorpion sting when fighting back?
They strike to kill and you know I will
You know I will
What do you sing on your drive home?
Do you see my face in the neighbor's lawn?
Does she smile?
Or does she mouth, "I hate you forever"?
Every time you call me crazy
I get more crazy
What about that?
And when you say I seem angry, I get more angry
And there's nothing like a mad woman
What a shame she went mad
No one likes a mad woman
You made her like that
And you'll poke that bear 'til her claws come out
And you find something to wrap your noose around
And there's nothing like a mad woman
Now I breathe flames each time I talk
My cannons all firing at your yacht
They say "move on"
But you know I won't
And women like hunting witches, too
Doing your dirtiest work for you
It's obvious that wanting me dead has really brought you two together
Every time you call me crazy
I get more crazy
What about that?
And when you say I seem angry, I get more angry
And there's nothing like a mad woman
What a shame she went mad
No one likes a mad woman
You made her like that
And you'll poke that bear 'til her claws come out
And you find something to wrap your noose around
And there's nothing like a mad woman
I'm taking my time
Taking my time
'Cause you took everything from me
Watching you climb
Watching you climb
Over people like me
The master of spin
Has a couple side flings
Good wives always know
She should be mad
Should be scathing like me
But no one likes a mad woman
What a shame she went mad
You made her like that
This next song is from Taylor's latest release, Midnights. I knew I'd find at least one song that could relate to sPoOkY sEaSoN on a record called Midnights! It's another song all about "revenge" and getting the upper hand, very much in the same vein as songs such as Look What You Made Me Do and no body, no crime. It's got that intense, "I WILL get you back" feel. Whenever Taylor sings in her deeper register, it always comes off dark and creepy.
Draw the cat eye sharp enough to kill a man
You did some bad things, but I'm the worst of them
Sometimes I wonder which one will be your last lie
They say looks can kill and I might try
I don't dress for women
I don't dress for men
Lately I've been dressing for revenge
I don't start it, but I can tell you how it ends
Don't get sad, get even
So on the weekends
I don't dress for friends
Lately I've been dressing for revenge
She needed cold hard proof so I gave her some
She had the envelope, where you think she got it from?
Now she gets the house, gets the kids, gets the pride
Picture me thick as thieves with your ex-wife
And she looks so pretty
Driving in your Benz
Lately she's been dressing for revenge
She don't start it, but she can tell you how it ends
Don't get sad, get even
So on the weekends
She don't dress for friends
Lately she's been dressing for revenge
Ladies always rise above
Ladies know what people want
Someone sweet and kind and fun
The lady simply had enough
While he was doing lines
And crossing all of mine
Someone told his white collar crimes to the FBI
And I don't dress for villains
Or for innocents
I'm on my vigilante shhh again
I don't start it, but I can tell you how it ends
Don't get sad, get even
So on the weekends
I don't dress for friends
Lately I've been dressing for revenge
WE'RE ALL MAD HERE! πΌπ€‘
