His Sacrifice Begins: Son of Suffering

Song: Son of Suffering
Artist: Bethel Music & David Funk feat. Matt Redman

His Sacrifice Begins Read and Ponder:

Jesus instituted the sacrament so we would always remember Him and His sacrifice. How can you honor and remember Him daily? - By keeping Him in my thoughts and allowing His influence and exemplary life guide and direct my thoughts and actions. To live in such a way that would please him. To begin each day and end each night with prayer. To focus on gratitude and acknowledging His tender love, guidance and goodness in my life each and every day. To worthily partake of the sacrament each week, with a repentant and humble heart. To make the sacrament a priority in my life.

My song choice for today, this Holy Thursday that commemorates the suffering of the Savior in the garden of Gethsemane, is a true worship song in praise of Christ and His atoning sacrifice on my behalf. I will never fully comprehend what He alone had to endure in that sacred Garden, but it had to have been the loneliest, most painful and difficult experience imaginable; "Because Jesus walked such a long, lonely path utterly alone, we do not have to do so." - Elder Jeffry R. HollandNothing will ever compare to His suffering that night and what continued the following day. Because of His willingness to take on my pains and sufferings, I know that I am never truly alone in my struggles and pain. Not when I lie awake at night feeling the darkness of my thoughts and depression begin to crash over me. Not when I am surrounded by loved ones but still feel alone, uninteresting and boring to talk to and be with. Not even when I sit in my room and cry on the weekend because I have no where to go and no one to be with. The Savior is always there. He has felt my pain. He knows how to succor me perfectly. He is there, with his hand outstretched and His arms open, welcoming me to come to Him despite it all. Despite my sins and mistakes. The anger I feel toward God sometimes for not taking it away or sending me the miracle I pray for. Despite my seemingly constant doubt and questioning and lack of faith. Despite turning my back on Him and my faith time and time again. He is always there. He paid the ultimate price for me so that He could know how to help, heal and comfort me in my time of need.

"Oh, praise the One who would reach for me. Hallelujah to the Son of suffering!" 🙌🙏💙

Oh, the perfect Son of God
In all His innocence
Here walking in the dirt with you and me
He knows what living is
He's acquainted with our grief
A man of sorrows, Son of suffering

Oh, blood and tears
How can it be?
That there's a God who weeps
There's a God who bleeds
Oh, praise the One
Who would reach for me
Hallelujah to the Son of suffering

Some imagine You
Are distant and removed
But You chased us down in merciful pursuit
To the sinner, You were grace
And the broken You embraced
And in the end the proof is in Your wounds
Yes, in the end the proof is in Your wounds

Blood and tears
How can it be?
There's a God who weeps
There's a God who bleeds
Oh, praise the One
Who would reach for me
Hallelujah to the Son of suffering

Your cross, my freedom
Your stripes, my healing
All praise King Jesus
Glory to God in Heaven
Your blood still speaking
Your love still reaching
All praise King Jesus
Glory to God forever

Your cross, my freedom
Your stripes, my healing
All praise King Jesus
Glory to God in Heaven
Your blood still speaking
Your love still reaching
All praise King Jesus
Glory to God forever

Glory to God forever
Glory to God forever
Glory to God forever
Glory to God forever

Your cross is my freedom
Your stripes are my healing
All praise King Jesus
Glory to God in Heaven
Your blood is still speaking
Your love is still reaching
All praise King Jesus
Glory to God forever

Your cross is my freedom
Your stripes are my healing
All praise King Jesus
Glory to God in Heaven
Your blood is still speaking
Your love is still reaching
All praise King Jesus
Glory to God forever

Glory to God forever
Forever and ever
Glory to God forever
Forever
Glory to God forever
And ever

Oh, blood and tears
How can it be?
That there's a God who weeps
Oh, there's a God who bleeds
So praise the One
Who would reach for me
Hallelujah to the Son of suffering

Yes, hallelujah to the Son of suffering
Sing hallelujah to the Son of suffering
(Who gave it all, say) Hallelujah to the Son of suffering (Man of sorrows, we sing)
Hallelujah to the Son of suffering
(Yes) Hallelujah to the Son of suffering
Hallelujah to the Son of suffering (Your cross)

Your cross is my freedom
Your stripes are my healing
All praise King Jesus
Glory to God in Heaven
Your blood is still speaking
Your love is still reaching
All praise King Jesus
Glory to God forever

All praise King Jesus
All praise King Jesus
All praise King Jesus
Glory to God forever
All praise King Jesus
All praise King Jesus
All praise King Jesus
Glory to God forever and ever
