Month of Love Songs Challenge Day 17
Song(s): Be My Eyes & It's Different Now
Artist: Pentatonix
Two songs that I am dreaming and wishing could be my reality today. π We have a big family party tonight where my singleness and loneliness is going to be on FULL display and to say I'm dreading it, is an understatement. And then the same thing - only tripled - is happening again on Sunday. My current plans are to hide out in my room rather than face the humiliation. We'll see how that works out.
Be My Eyes
This song is all about having someone see you for who you really are and can help you do the same. When you get hung up on your flaws and insecurities, the person who loves you and really sees you can help open your eyes to who you are inside. This could also come from a non-romantic relationship, but today the way I'm listening to it, I picture it being from a sweet, romantic perspective. It's what I dream of. On a side note: these lyrics are spot on! I love them!
Little white horses on carousels and quicksand
Am I one of you or one of them
Television dulls my senses and reactions
I can't seem to find my way again
The stranger that I call joy is
Who you are when I'm too far down
When there's so many inside voices calling
Where do I, where do I run right now
Be my eyes
Be my eyes
Be my eyes
Be my eyes
When I can't see
Be my eyes
Be my eyes
Be my eyes
Be my eyes
When I can't see
I can get caught up on little things and missteps
You rebuild the ground beneath my feet
When I get lost, I'm out of my mind, too in my head
You're the camera to refocus me
The stranger that I call joy is
Who you are when I'm too far down
When there's so many inside voices calling
Where do I, where do I run right now
Be my eyes
Be my eyes
Be my eyes
Be my eyes
When I can't see
Be my eyes
Be my eyes
Be my eyes
Be my eyes
When I can't see
Be my eyes
Be my eyes
Be my eyes
Be my eyes
When I can't see
Be my eyes
Be my eyes
Be my eyes
Be my eyes
When I can't see
Be my eyes
Be my eyes
Be my eyes
Be my eyes
When I can't see
Be my eyes
Be my eyes
Be my eyes
Be my eyes
When I can't see
It's Different Now
One of my favorite PTX original songs from The Lucky Ones. π€ It's about being skeptical and afraid of opening up your heart because you've been hurt and let down too many times before. But, it's different now because the person who is making you feel a certain kinda way is different. Being vulnerable is scary. Someone who can help break down those walls, are worth keeping around...I'd imagine. This song seems to go hand in hand with Be My Eyes. Both are Kirstie leads and I think she also wrote both songs! She slays! π
π Especially on this track; her vocals are so powerful and emotional! π
You understand my hesitation
Why I get quiet sometimes
All the ways I've been conditioned
What I think is real, you redesign
It's how you catch me every time
I rewind our conversations
Listen between every line
To relieve my superstition
I only reveal
It's only a sign
That it all adds up this time
I've been holding my hopes waist-high
So they don't tumble down
And keep me yesterday-bound
I've been holding my breath
Cause I don't want to be let down
But we're too far for that now
So I'm saying it out loud
It's different now
I don't need special attention
Just as long as you are mine
Then there's no reason to mention
What came before
The who or the why
Cause it all adds up this time
I've been holding my hopes waist-high
So they don't tumble down
And keep me yesterday-bound
I've been holding my breath
Cause I don't want to be let down
But we're too far for that now
So I'm saying it out loud
It's different now
Didn't mean to push away
Make you think I'm so insane
It isn't gonna haunt me no more (anymore, anymore)
Stay forever and a day
You'll never have to ask again, no way
Cause I can say
I've been holding my hopes waist-high
So they don't tumble down
And keep me yesterday-bound
I've been holding my breath
Cause I don't want to be let down
But we're too far for that now
So I'm saying it out loud
It's different now (now)
