Why did my eyes instantly fill with tears while I listened to this song just now? Not because of the beautiful melody or sweet simplicity of the lyrics, but because it made me think of my grandmother. My grandmother who passed away almost 20 years ago. My mom's mom. I remember a time many Christmases ago of my mom sharing this song with us and telling us how much her mother loved it. I remember that she sang it for us while playing an old instrument (a harpsicord I believe?) even though she's very shy and doesn't usually like to sing in front of people. It made me think of the way my mom loved her mom and how much I can tell, even after all these years, how much she still misses her. My memories of my sweet grandmother are few and a little fuzzy but I felt her love as I listened to this song today. I felt her presence. I see her in my own mother. I'm grateful for the birth of Jesus Christ who makes it possible for us to see and be with the ones we love who have passed from this mortal life again some day. 🙏

This song is about dealing with depression ( Zac Hanson even said so ! Be forewarned, explicit language is used in this video. I'm so sorry). Once I heard Zac explain the meaning and message behind this song it made so much sense to me! I have always loved it and I've always known it had a powerful message but I could never quite figure out what it was. This song is about struggling.
