Grateful For Music Challenge Day 15

Song(s): Don't Let Your Baby Catch You, E-Ne-Me-Ne-Mi-Ne-Moe (The Choice Is Yours to Pull), If I Have to Move a Mountain & Children of the Light
Artist: The Jackson 5

😁😁😁

I warned you this was going to be a Michael and the Jackson's, quadruple song week!! It's fitting since Thriller 40 comes out THIS Friday!! 🎉

Don't Let Your Baby Catch You
The lyrics are far too mature for little, baby Michael to be singing (even just thinking and knowing about infidelity at his age is too mature!) but, vocally it's another homerun and the song is insanely catchy!!

Don't let your baby catch you
Don't let your baby catch you
Don't let your baby catch you
Fooling around
You just might lose the best thing
That you ever found
Don't let your baby catch you
Fooling around

Oh, the nights are lonely
Twice as cold
Without my baby's hand to hold
My happiness is fading away
Just like a thief
I tried to steal a kiss
From another pretty miss
My baby was the price that I paid

Now listen, fellows
(Think twice)
Think twice if you have cheating on your mind
(Watch your step)
Remember
The punishment will fit your crime

Don't let your baby catch you
Don't let your baby catch you
Don't let your baby catch you
Fooling around
You just might lose the best thing
That you ever found
Don't let your baby catch you
Fooling around

Oh, I hope that now you let me be
Do right not wrong in full indeed
I'm gonna crawl back all the way on my knees
And if that's no use I'd get to move
And settle down and come to her
Oh, before I even say please
If I get one more chance
My life would be as good as you
And I would not forget the days
The sun would not shine through

Don't let your baby catch you
Don't let your baby catch you
Don't let your baby catch you
Fooling around
Oh, no
Can't you not, can't you not, can't you not, babe

Oh, don't let her
Oh, your baby catch you
You might lose the best thing
That you ever found

Tell about it, Mike

You're crazy about your baby
And she's crazy about you
Just think of what you'd do to her
If she was untrue

Don't let your baby catch you
Don't let your baby catch you
Don't let your baby catch you
All right
Don't let your baby catch you
Fooling around
You just might lose the best thing
That you ever found
Don't let your baby catch you
Fooling around

Don't let it
Don't let it
Don't let it
Stop
Stop
Stop

Don't let your baby catch you
Fooling around
You just might lose the best thing
That you ever found
Don't let your baby catch you
Fooling around

E-Ne-Me-Ne-Mi-Ne-Moe (The Choice Is Yours to Pull)
The title of this one is intense 😂 Just another classic, catchy, slightly cheesy lyrically but such a bop you can't help but dance along too song from the Jackson 5! At least the lyrics to this one are more age appropriate! 😉

Ah, listen to me, baby
Musical chairs, you see, my dear, ain't ever been my thing
Shuffleboard to me, you see, it just ain't the same
Well, tic-tac-toe has got to go
It truly has become a bore
Checkers games, I've lost my last
And I don't wanna lose no more

Now, you can keep on playing hide and seek
And things like blind man’s bluff
But tricks are made for kids, baby
But the name of the game is love, oh

E-ne-me-ne-mi-ne-moe, the choice is yours to pull
Do you wanna keep on playing games
Or take this heart in full?
E-ne-me-ne-mi-ne-moe, the choice is yours to pull
Do you wanna keep on playing games
Or take this heart in full?

Now I believe in lovin’ hard
Don't care about games or money
I believe in being love rich
So I've never been love poor, honey
Playing the field behind my back
And to my face saying that you're true
That's the game foolish kids
Baby, not for me and you

So, don't keep your feelings hid
If you want me, tell me so
Can't you see tricks are made for kids
And these kids have got to go, oh

E-ne-me-ne-mi-ne-moe, the choice is yours to pull
Do you wanna keep on playing games
Or take this heart in full?
E-ne-me-ne-mi-ne-moe, the choice is yours to pull
Do you wanna keep on playing games
Or take this heart in full?

Oh, ooh yeah, na na na na, yeah, ooh ooh

So, come on, honey, come kiss me and dream
I'm not make-believe (I'm the real thing)
I've got all the riches, baby
And I'm here to please

So, stop your fooling around
Push has come to shove
Throwing out the games of yesterday
Now the name of the game is love, oh

E-ne-me-ne-mi-ne-moe, the choice is yours to pull
Do you wanna keep on playing games
Or take this heart in full?
E-ne-me-ne-mi-ne-moe, the choice is yours to pull
Do you wanna keep on playing games
Or take this heart in full?
E-ne-me-ne-mi-ne-moe, the choice is yours to pull
Do you wanna keep on playing games
Or take this heart in full?
E-ne-me-ne-mi-ne-moe, the choice is yours to pull
Do you wanna keep on playing games
Or take this heart in full?

If I Have to Move a Mountain
This song is really sweet 🥰 (if a little on the corny side. Sweet and cheesy, the perfect way to describe the Jackson 5! But they were so darn talented, you hardly even noticed! You were just awed and inspired by them, specifically the littlest guy of the bunch! 😉).

(Who's the one that loves you)
(The special one who needs you)
You made the odds a million to me
(No one else can love you)
(Nobody else can need you)
No more than the one whose heart you won't believe

So if I have to move a mountain
Simply to prove that you're my love (my love)
That you're my love, baby (my only love)
I'll do it, yes I'd do it
To show I love you

In your eyes
I see no faith
There's an absence of trust
In your embrace

But why would I
Pretend to give
Just to take from the person
For whom I live

(I told you that I love you)
(especially I need you)
You're one love in a million was made from the stars
(and maybe you'd believe me)
(then maybe you would need me)
But maybe may not ever convince your stubborn heart

So if I have to move a mountain
Simply to prove that you're my love (my love)
You're my love, baby (my only love)
I'd do it, and I'll do it, yes I'll do it for you
And if I have to stop a river
To make you belive that I'm the one (the one)
That special one you need (that special one)
I'd do it, yes I'd do it (to show I love you)

(Pins and needles sticking in my heart)
(We're so close, but still so far apart)
(What to do, what to do to make you need my love too)

So if I have to move a mountain
Simply to prove that you're my love (my love)
You're my love, baby (my only love)
I'd do it, and I'll do it, yes I'll do it for you
And if I have to stop a river
To make you belive that I'm the one (the one)
That special one you need (that special one)
I'd do it, yes I'd do it (to show I love you)

Children of the Light
This song has a very Beatles-esque quality to it...at least to me. I don't know how to explain it. The message of this one feels very similar to past "young MJ" songs I've shared during this time of year in the past. Uplifting, feel-good songs with positive messages. I like that! 😊

Children of the Light, ohh
Children of the Light, ohh

People work and people talk
And think that their alive
But ask them what their life's about
Their quick to run and hide

People laugh and people cry
But never realize
That all the worlds tomorrows
Lays in what they feel inside

So, take my hand
And walk in the sunshine
Take my hand, from out of the night
We can stand, despite all of the dark lies
And we can build a world that is right

Walk together
All of my brothers, walk together
All of my sisters, walk forever
All of my children, children smile
The time has come for everyone
To stop and look around
To see just where we started from
And wonder where we're bound
The ship we're on has lost it's way

So, take my hand
And walk in the sunshine
Take my hand, from out of the night
We can stand, despite all of the dark lies
A we can build a world that is right
We can be the children of the light

Everybody!
So, take my hand
And walk in the sunshine
Take my hand, from out of the night
We can stand, despite all of the dark lies
A we can build a world that is right
We can be the children of the light
[repeat to fade]
