Michael Jackson has made his official, yearly Halloween debut here at Music Is My Therapy during "SPOOKTOBER" and I am SO excited about today's song!!
I discovered this song back in August. It's from the Bad25 Anniversary album as a bonus track of unreleased demos Michael recorded during the making of Bad that never made the cut. See Price of Fame for another demo from the anniversary album that I love. I have been OBSESSED with this song since then and have waited to share it until NOW!!
This song is PERFECT for Halloween as it's basically part 2 of Smooth Criminal! It's got a gritty and angry feel to it and the lyrics talk about someone who got away after committing a dastardly deed...the Smooth Criminal! Which apparently is the notorious Al Capone! And no, Annie is definitely NOT OK! 😉 Michael's voice is incredible on this track! He goes from a gritty growl as he spits angry words of revenge to a gorgeous high falsetto. And the beat is INSANE! Instantly catchy! I remember I listened to this song three times in a row after first hearing it! You've gotta listen to Smooth Criminal and then this song, they go together so well! I'm not totally sure which song came first and which inspired which but I'm so happy they both exisist! Imagine being so good your DEMOS sound better than what's on the radio these days! This man is KING of music and rightfully so! 👑 There will never be another.
