Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer Appreciation Post!!

Song: Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer
Artist(s): Burl Ives, The Jackson 5, The Temptations, Jewel, Jack Johnson & Pentatonix

Out of the 6 years I've been doing this Musical Christmas Advent, I recently realized I have never ONCE posted one of the most classic and iconic Christmas songs of all time... RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSE REINDEER!! How could I have skipped this one!? It's one of the first Christmas songs you learn as a child (complete with all the additional lyrics: "Like a lightbulb!" "Like Pinocchio!", etc.). Not to mention, it's the theme song (and plot) to one of the best, most classic Rankin & Bass Christmas cartoons! So, to repent of this most serious sin, you don't get just one version... or two... or even three, oh no friends, you are getting 6! That's right, 6! One for every year I've missed, including this year. These have become my favorite versions over the years (along with a brand new version by the Christmas Kings & Queen themselves, PTX). I hope your vocal pipes are warmed up, because you'll be singing along, at full volume, just like when you were a kid, to this classic Christmas jingle, all 6 times!

Up First, Burl Ives! The most iconic version EVER! The beginning takes me back to my childhood!

You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen
Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen
But do you recall the most famous reindeer of all

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Had a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it glows

All of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names
They never let poor Rudolph
Join in any reindeer games

Then one foggy Christmas Eve
Santa came to say
Rudolph with your nose so bright
Won't you guide my sleigh tonight

Then how the reindeer loved him
As they shouted out with glee
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
You'll go down in history

Up next, this groovy version by the Temptations!

You Know there's Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen.

Comet and Cupid an Donner and Blitzen.

Oh, but do you recall...

The most famous reindeer of all?

Whoa-o-o-o-o

His name is...

Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer.
Had a very shiny nose.
And if you ever saw it.
You would even say it glows.

All of the other, other, other reindeer.
Used to laugh and call him names.
They never let poor Rudolph.
Join in any reindeer games.

(Then one foggy Christmas eve)
You know (Santa came to say...)

(Hey Rudolph)
You, with your nose so bright.
Come on, come on, come on, come on and guide my sleigh tonight.

Then how the reindeer loved him.
As they shouted out with glee. (Hey Rudolph)
Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer.
You'll go down in history.

(Then one foggy Christmas eve)
Santa came to say...

Ooo, Rudolph, come on and guide my sleigh.
Ooo, Rudolph, come on and guide my sleigh.
Hey, hey, hey, Rudolph, come on and guide my sleigh tonight.
Hey, hey, hey, Rudolph, with your nose so bright.

The Jackson 5 - In the same style as the Temptations, but much cuter ('cause they're kids!). "Hey Rudolph!" My favorite part! 😄

You know Dasher and Dancer, Prancer and Vixen
Comet and Cupid, Donner and Blitzen
But do you recall
The most famous reindeer of all?

Hey Rudolph
Wo-hoah, Rudolph

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Had a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it glowed
All of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names
They never let poor Rudolph
Join in any reindeer games

Oh, then one foggy Christmas Eve
Santa came to say (hey Rudolph)
Rudolph, with your nose so bright,
Won't you guide my sleigh tonight

Then how the reindeer loved him,
As they shouted out with glee...
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
You'll go down in history
You'll go down in history
Hey Rudolph

Hey Rudolph
Wo-hoah, Rudolph

Jewel - Her version is so cheesy but cute in a girlish kind of way, haha.

Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer
Had a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it glows
All of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names
They never let poor Rudolph
Join in any reindeer games

Then one foggy Christmas eve
Santa came to say:
"Rudolph with your nose so bright
won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"

Then how the reindeer loved him
As they shouted out with glee (yippee)
"Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer
You'll go down in history."

Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer
Had a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it glows
All of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names
They never let poor Rudolph
Join in any reindeer games

Then one foggy Christmas eve
Santa came to say:
"Rudolph with your nose so bright
won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"

Then how the reindeer loved him
As they shouted out with glee (yippee)
"Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer
You'll go down in history."

Jack Johnson - This is one of my most favorite versions because of that third verse! BOOM! 💣💥Shots fired Rudolph! Life lessons with Jack Johnson 101.

Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer
Had a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it glows
All of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names
They never let poor Rudolph
Join in any reindeer games

Then one foggy Christmas eve
Santa came to say:
"Rudolph with your nose so bright
Won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"

Then how the reindeer loved him
As they shouted out with glee (yippee)
"Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer
You'll go down in history."

Well Rudolph he didn't go for that
He said "I see through your silly games"
How could you look me in the face
When only yesterday you called me names?

Well all of the other reindeers man
Well they sure did feel ashamed
"Rudolph you know we're sorry
We're truly gonna try to change"

PTX - This version is still a little new for me (as new as this song can get) but it's Pentatonix. They can do no wrong, especially when it comes to their Christmas covers! 😊🎄

You Know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen

They got Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen
Comet and Cupid an Donner and Blitzen
Nothing can compare to that bright nosed reindeer in the air

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (Reindeer)
Had a very shiny nose (Had a very shiny nose)
And if you ever saw it (Ever saw it)
You would even say it glows

All of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names
