Grateful For Music Challenge Day 10
Song(s): Home To Stay & Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring
Artist: Josh Groban
Remember how November is also known as "Josh Groban" month around here? I think I've made that pretty darn clear now, giving you TWO Josh songs in one! I listened to both of these songs today while doing some menial housework. They are two I'm not as familiar with (even though they are both from his very first, debut album!) and I'm now obsessed! Angelic π And so, sooo gorgeous! The transition between songs (Home To Stay into the classic Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring) is seamless and beautiful!
The lyrics in Home To Stay are tender and make me think of a parent singing or praying these words over a rebellious and wayward child, yearning them to return. The message that they will always be there waiting, with arms open. π₯ Or maybe it could be a lover, however you wish to interpret it, it's beautiful and heartfelt all the same.
I can't say enough good things about these two songs! Here's an idea; listen to both songs, in order, in a quiet, darkened room, with your eyes closed, drinking in the beauty and feel the sensation this beautiful music fills you with! Food for the soul! Lovely!
I know you're gone
I watched you leave
I always thought
That it was me
You made it clear
With that last kiss
You couldn't live a life
With maybe's and what if's
When every boat
Has sailed away
And every path
Is marked and paved
When every road
Has had its say
Then I'll be bringing you back
Home to stay
I have the cards you sent to me
You wrote of trains and Paris galleries
This spring you'll draw
Canals, and frescoed walls
Look how far your dreaming's gone
When every town looks just the same
When every choice gets hard to make
When every map is put away
Then I'll be bringing you back
Home to stay
And now I know why you had to go alone
Isn't there a place between
When every boat
Has sailed away
And every path
Is marked and paved
When every road
Has had its say
Then I'll be bringing you back
Home to stay
Reach out to me
Call out my name
And I would bring you back again
Today
Jesu, joy of man's desiring
Holy wisdom, love most bright
Drawn by Thee, our souls aspiring
Soar to uncreated light
Word of God, our flesh that fashioned
With the fire of life impassioned
Striving still to truth unknown
Soaring, dying round Thy throne
