It Wasn't His Child

Song: It Wasn't His Child

HAPPWEEBEFORCHRISTMAS!!

I'm trying not to be too stressed out over the fact that CHRISTMAS is in exactly ONE WEEK from right now!! It's an exciting time, but it's also a stressful time....I'm not ready for Christmas to come and then be gone so quickly....

What a beautiful, beautiful song we have today. Oh my heart! I heard this for the very first time in my life today and I instantly fell in love! The melody, the lyrics, it's all so beautiful!! Every time I listen to this song (I have listened to it twice today) I have gotten misty eyed. It's so tender and sweet and I love a good Joseph song! Ugh. Maybe it's the tenderness of a father's love, but why are country songs so darn sentimental sometimes!? So beautiful. OK. I'll shut up now. Go listen and fall in love, the way I have.

He was her man, she was his wife
And late one winter night
He knelt by her
As she gave birth
But it wasn't his child,
It wasn't his child

Yet still he took him as his own
And as he watched him grow
It brought him joy
He loved that boy
But it wasn't his child
It wasn't his child

But like a father he was strong and kind and good
And I believe he did his best
It wasn't easy for him
But he did all could
His son was different from the rest
It wasn't his child
It wasn't his child

And when the boy became a man
He took his father's hand
And soon the world
Would all know why
It wasn't his child
It wasn't his child

And like his father he was strong and kind and good
And I believe he did his best
It wasn't easy for him
But he did all he could
He grew up with his hands in wood
And he died with his hands in wood
He was God's child,
He was God's child

He was her man
She was his wife
And late one winter night
He knelt by her
As she gave birth
But it wasn't his child
It was God's child

I also just want to add a thought I had. In the last verse & chorus when it says "And when the boy became a man he took his father's hand and soon the world would all know why it wasn't his child....but like a father he was strong and kind and I believe he did his best. It wasn't easy for him but he did all he could....He was God's child" When it says "He was God's child" I think it was talking about Jesus Christ being God the Father's child but I also had the thought that it was talking about Joseph and how Joseph was God's child. Because he was. Just as we all are. I don't know why that thought struck me so profoundly but it did. I think the Spirit really impressed that truth upon my heart today. That we are all God's children. And that because of Jesus Christ, it's possible to live with our Father in Heaven again. And that our Father loves us and wants us to come home. I really believe that with all my heart. So much so that just writing this out is making me want to cry because I believe it so strongly! Gosh, I'm such a sap these days!! I swear I've been on the verge of tears this entire month!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
