Grateful For Music Challenge Day 5

Song: Yesterday
Artist: The Beatles

I didn't have a great day :/ It started out pretty good. I even listened to a few Christmas songs on my walk, that's how happy I was feeling this morning! But then, I don't know how or why it always happens, but I fell. I slipped and landed in the hole of depression. I isolated myself and couldn't find the energy, motivation or desire to do anything. And so just like that, another full day has been wasted. I didn't do anything worthwhile, helpful or beneficial to myself or anyone else (other than perhaps my dog by taking him on his daily walk).

I feel like I can relate to the message of this song. But instead of "yesterday" being the time when "all my troubles seemed so far away" it's more yester-year .... or two. This entire year I haven't been doing well or feeling OK really at all. It's been a hard, long but short year. And it makes me really, really sad :(

BUT, this song is beautiful! It's definitely my favorite Beatles song. I don't know a ton of the Beatles music but I really, really like this one. I am grateful for songs that give a voice to my heart but can also bring a comfort to my soul. It's strange how a sad song can be a comforting song at the same time. I guess it's in the fact that, it just makes me feel less alone somehow.

Yesterday all my troubles seemed so far away.
Now it looks as though they're here to stay.
Oh, I believe in yesterday.

Suddenly, I'm not half the man I used to be.
There's a shadow hanging over me.
Oh, yesterday came suddenly.

Why she had to go?
I don't know, she wouldn't say.
I said something wrong.
Now I long for yesterday.

Yesterday love was such an easy game to play.
Now I need a place to hide away.
Oh, I believe in yesterday.

Why she had to go?
I don't know, she wouldn't say.
I said something wrong.
Now I long for yesterday.

Yesterday love was such an easy game to play.
Now I need a place to hide away.
Oh, I believe in yesterday.

Mm mm mm mm mm mm mm.
