Grateful For Music Challenge Day 13

Song(s): Satellite & Play Me
Artist: Josh Groban

😁😁😁😁

Yep! It's another brand *new* song (for me) kind of day!! I listened to 3 Josh Groban albums as I went about my day. I got to listen to his Christmas album (yay for Christmas music!!), his album Illuminations which is one of my favorites and the most November/Thanksgiving one to me simply because I remember my family getting that album when it first came out close to Thanksgiving and I listened to it non-stop. So, every time I hear it I get nostalgic and think of Thanksgiving and fall and family and food and it makes me feel warm and cozy inside. Then I listened to All That Echoes. It's been extra fun listening to all of his albums in order because, not only do I know the songs so well that it's like meeting up with an old friend when I hear them again, but I have been finding the "deluxe" albums through Apple Music so I've gotten to hear new songs I've never had the chance to listen to before! And that's where today's songs are from! They were bonus tracks on the All That Echoes Deluxe album and I am obsessed!!  Satellite is just catchy, especially that chorus! Ugh. I love when he sings in his higher register: "Winter's cold, spring erases. And the calm away by the storm is chasing." He sounds so good!! I love the whimsical feel of the music too, it's fun! Play Me is just soooo romantic and the lyrics make me wish that someone would think about me in that way ..... if that makes sense. The chorus makes me melt, uggghhh. He's so perfect. I am grateful for these songs because it truly made my day just hearing them :) I love, love, love discovering new songs that I fall in love with immediately!

Satellite in my eyes
Like a diamond in the sky
How I wonder.

Satellite strung from the moon
And the world your balloon
Peeping Tom for the mother station.

Winter's cold spring erases
And the calm away by the storm is chasing
Everything good needs replacing
Look up, look down all around, satellite

Satellite headlines read
Someone's secrets you've seen
Eyes and ears have been

Satellite dish in my yard
Tell me more, tell me more
Who's the king of your satellite castle?

Winter's cold spring erases
And the calm away by the storm is chasing
Everything good needs replacing
Look up, look down all around, satellite

Rest high above the clouds no restrictions
Television we bounce 'round the world
And while I spend these hours
Five senses reeling,
I laugh about this weatherman's satellite eyes.

Satellite in my eyes
Like a diamond in the sky
How I wonder.
Satellite strung from the moon
And the world your balloon
Peeping Tom for the mother station

Winter's cold spring erases
And the calm away by the storm is chasing
Everything good needs replacing
Look up, look down all around, satellite

I just discovered (like just discovered .... as in when I went to look up the lyrics 2 minutes ago) that Satellite is a cover of a song originally by the Dave Matthews Band! I don't actually know any of that bands music but I have family members who are fans so I thought it would be fun to look up their version and see how it compares :)

Obviously I'm biased, but I prefer Josh's version. This version is different and I kinda like it but still. Josh wins. The fiddle player at the beginning of the video is pretty cool though! It's unique seeing a fiddler in a band like this. At least for me it is.

Ah, man! I can't find the studio version of this song on the youtube link. But, I mean how incredible is Josh on the piano?! HOLY! I like this live version too of course (he is insanely talented!) but if you want to hear the studio version click here (because it's really, really beautiful!)

She was morning, and I was night time
I one day woke up
To find her lying beside my bed
I softly said "Come take me"
For I've been lonely in need of someone
As though I'd done someone wrong somewhere
But I don't know where, I don't know where
Come lately

You are the sun, I am the moon
You are the words, I am the tune
Play me

Song she sang to me
Song she brang to me
Words that rang in me,
Rhyme that sprang from me
Warmed the night, and what was right
Became me

You are the sun, I am the moon
You are the words, I am the tune
Play me

[Instrumental]

And so it was that I came to travel
Upon a road that was thorned and narrow
Another place, another grace
Would save me

You are the sun, I am the moon
You are the words, I am the tune
Play me
You are the sun, I am the moon
You are the words, I am the tune
Play me......

.....Annnnd I just found out again as I went to get the lyrics that this song is a cover of a Neil Dimond song!! So, let's compare again shall we :)

DEFINITELY prefer Josh's version!! But ya know, this one is sweet too...
