I've had a really nice day so far. My sister and I exercised together in the morning (self-love!), I made heart shaped Churro French Toast and a green smoothie for our breakfast and I've been eating lots of chocolate throughout the day ;) We are going to watch Hitch later tonight for our Valentine's rom-com. While eating more chocolate ;)
Sometimes today it has made me feel really sad being single on yet another Valentine's Day. Then I am reminded that I have been single for every Valentine's Day of my 26 years of life. I try not to think about it too much. Because it actually makes me more sad than I would ever admit to anyone in person. I try to shrug it off like it's no big deal and I'm content being an independent woman. But, in all honesty, what I wouldn't give to have someone bring me flowers and chocolates and a cute stuffed animal and take me out for a romantic evening. Maybe it will happen for me someday. Maybe.
But, instead of dwelling on the sadness, loneliness and pain that is inevitable for every single young adult on this day, I have to express my love and gratitude for the love I do have in my life. My family. My dog ;) An old friend of mine who I haven't seen for a long time surprised me and brought me a Valentine gift today. She has done this for the past several years without fail on this holiday. And this holiday alone. I love it and I love her and am so grateful for her friendship in my often lonely life!
Even though I'm single and alone and celebrating more of a "Gal-entines Day" as opposed to Valentines Day ;) I still love this holiday, I still love romance, love songs and the idea of being in love. Speaking of love songs, today's song is one I have been saving for today for months now! I'm obsessed. It's one of my new favorite love songs of all time. The message is so beautiful and sweet and makes me smile. And it applies to all types of love, as opposed to strictly romantic.
