When You Believe & Greensleeves

Songs: When You Believe & Greensleeves
Artist: Pentatonix

Two songs today!

The first song is a cover of the beautiful song When You Believe from the movie The Prince of Egypt. I have loved this movie and the music from it, for years; since I was very young. I think this song totally works for Christmas and this time of year with it's message of believing. That is one of the themes of Christmas: believe. Believe in goodness. Believe in hope. Believe in love. Believe in the one who brings all good things, Jesus Christ. This is His season, a season of miracle and belief. They did a wonderful job on this cover. I like it a lot.

Many nights we've prayed
With no proof anyone could hear
In our hearts a hopeful song we barely understood
Now we are not afraid
Although we know there's much to fear
We were moving mountains long before we knew we could

There can be miracles when you believe
Though hope is frail it's hard to kill
Who knows what miracles you can achieve
When you believe, somehow you will
You will when you believe

In this time of fear
When prayer so often proved in vain
Hope seemed like the summer birds
Too swiftly flown away
Yet now I'm standing here
My heart so full I can't explain
Seeking faith and speaking words
I never thought I'd say

There can be miracles when you believe
(When you believe)
Though hope is frail it's hard to kill
Who knows what miracles you can achieve
(You can achieve)
When you believe, somehow you will
You will when you believe

They don't always happen when you ask
And it's easy to give in to your fears
But when you're blinded by your pain
Can't see your way clear through the rain
A small but still, resilient voice
Says help is very near

There can be miracles when you believe
(When you believe)
Though hope is frail it's hard to kill
(It's hard to kill)
Who knows what miracles (miracles) you can achieve
When you believe, somehow you will
(Somehow you will)
Now you will
You will when you believe
You will when you believe

Song #2 is a beautiful, acapella version of Greensleeves also known as What Child Is This? They don't sing the words to the song, but their harmonies are hauntingly beautiful! I get chills when I listen to it. It makes me think of being in an old, beautiful church and seeing stain glass windows depicting the Saviors life as a choir softly sings in the background. It's a quiet song that is perfect to listen to as you ponder the true meaning of Christmas. Try listening to this while sitting in a darkened room, the only light coming from the light of your Christmas tree, as you picture the light of the world, tiny baby Jesus, lying in a manger. Ponder the meaning and significance of his miraculous birth and the gift that he has given to all people everywhere. Ponder the gift he has given just to you. Think about what gift you could give to Him.

MERRCHRISTMAS!!!
