12 Days of Christmas!
It's official! Christmas is in 12 days! Holy cow! It's coming sooooo fast! I can't wait!!
I've decided to try something different this year. In addition to a new Christmas song every day for my Christmas Song Advent, I'm also going to be posting a Christ-centered song for the next 12 days leading up to Christmas day! I'm also going to be reading scriptures that talk about Christ's birth and life for the next 12 days as part of my scripture study. I hope that by doing this, I can remember the true meaning of Christmas more, even throughout the business (and fun!) of the holiday season.
So, for the first day of Christmas we have ....
Song: Samuel Tells of the Baby Jesus
Artist: From, The Children's Songbook, 36
This song foretells the birth of Jesus Christ as told from Book of Mormon prophet, Samuel the Lamanite, in ancient America. He prophesied that within 5 years from that time, there would be a day and night that would be light, as if there were no night. After that night of no darkness there would be a new star in the heavens, the sign that the Savior of the world was born! (see: Helaman 13:2, 14:1-19, 16:1-8, 11-23, 3 Nephi 1:4-21). Just as prophets such as Isaiah of the Old Testament, prophesied of the birth and life of the Savior, there were many other prophets throughout both the Bible and Book of Mormon who prophesied of Jesus Christ and his earthly mission.
Said Samuel, "Within five years
A night will be as day,
And baby Jesus will be born
In a land far, far away."
Hosanna! Hosanna!
Oh, let us gladly sing.
How blessed that our Lord was born;
Let earth recieve her king!
Across the sea, in Bethlehem,
Lord Jesus came to earth
As Samuel had prophesied,
And angels sang His birth.
Hosanna! Hosanna!
Oh, let us gladly sing.
How blessed that our Lord was born;
Let earth recieve her king!
