Grateful For Music Challenge Day 6
Song: This
Artist: Darius Rucker
Taking a little detour from my "young MJ" songs list to highlight This great country song! I'm not a huge fan of country music, but it's growing on me and there is a good handful of country songs and artists I like. This song in particular has been a favorite of mine for the past couple of months now. I love the story that is being told in the song: finding "your person" isn't an easy journey. You go through a lot of ups and downs on the road to love. But in the end, you look back, realizing that is was all worth it because it led you to where you are and who you're with. And maybe you don't even have to look at it in a "romantic" sense. Just having the understanding that life is full of pot holes and that things don't always work out. But ultimately, it's after we overcome those trials we can look back in a spirit of gratitude for how far we've come and where we are now. Going back to that "romantic" aspect though, when (and if) I ever find "my person" I know all of the trials I am currently going through will all be worth it because I will have found my joy. I pray for this experience in my lifetime! I want it more than almost anything else! I'm grateful for This song because it makes me feel hopeful!

Got a baby girl sleeping in my bedroom
And her mama laughing in my arms
There's the sound of rain on the rooftop
And the game's about to start
I don't really know how I got here
But I'm sure glad that I did
And it's crazy to think that one little thing
Could've changed all of it
Maybe it didn't turn out like I planned
Maybe that's why I'm such, such a lucky man
For every stoplight I didn't make
Every chance I did or I didn't take
All the nights I went too far
All the girls that broke my heart
All the doors that I had to close
All the things I knew but I didn't know
Thank God for all I missed
Cause it led me here to
This
Like the girl that I loved in high school
Who said she could do better
Or that college I wanted to go to
'Til I got that letter
All the fights and the tears and the heartache
I thought I'd never get through
And the moment I almost gave up
All lead me here to you
I didn't understand it way back when
But sitting here right now it all makes perfect sense
For every stoplight I didn't make
Every chance I did or I didn't take
All the nights I went too far
All the girls that broke my heart
All the doors that I had to close
All the things I knew but I didn't know
Thank God for all I missed
Cause it led me here to
This
How I cried when my mama passed away
But now I've got an angel looking out for me today
So nothing's a mistake
For every stoplight I didn't make
Every chance I did or I didn't take
All the nights I went too far
All the girls that broke my heart
All the doors that I had to close
All the things I knew but I didn't know
