BIRTHDAY #26!!

HAPPY 26TH BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!

If you know me at all, by reading any of my past birthday posts, you know how much of a Scrooge I usually am about my birthday. I hate that I have to keep getting older and I hate that I'm not where I want to be in my life and I hate having attention on me.

This year has been different though. Sure, I still experienced some of the negative feelings about my impending birthday. But, once my birthday actually rolled around (and since I happened to still be awake at midnight I was able to ring in my new year! Alone. In bed...) I had a feeling I haven't felt or experienced in years. I felt excited about my birthday! I felt happy and excited about my age! Even though I'm not where I would have hoped to be at this age, I feel like I'm at a good place. 26 seems like a good age to me for some reason. I just feel at peace about it. I'm actually really excited about this new chapter in my life! I just know 26 is going to be a GREAT year for me!! The BEST year! I believe there is going to be a lot of growing and changing and self-discovery this year. I finally feel at peace with where and who I am. At least as of right now. That could change by tomorrow, but I want to hold on to these feelings. I want to remind myself of how far I've come and that the future is an open and empty book. It's pages are waiting to be filled with my life experiences and adventures! I don't have to be the negative, bitter, sad person I have been for the past 4 years. This is my new beginning, my fresh start, my next chapter! Let's make it a good one!! I have had a truly fabulous day!! I have been spoiled rotten and have felt so much love from my family! My heart is so full.

My birthday dedication song for my 26th year is a little random. Not even sure how I know this song but when it came on my Spotify playlist as I was headed out on a 4-day birthday trip with my mom (I was super spoiled this year!) the words in this song were so meaningful to me that I knew then and there this would be my birthday song for 2018. The chorus especially. It's a song all about making the best of each day. Of not letting anything or anyone hold you back or tell you it's too late. The message of "It's never too late" means a lot to me and holds a lot of significance in my life. I want that to be one of my "mantras" or "catch-phrases" for this year. It's never too late. I have a lot of life ahead of me and I want them to be the "best days" of my life!
