Don't Accuse

Meep. I've been failing BIG time with my musical blogging this year :(

I want to try to do better. And I'm starting today by lamenting the fact that exactly one year ago from this very day I was in Tulsa, Oklahoma attending my very first Hanson Day!! I can't believe it's been an entire year since that life-changing trip. I will always cherish those memories from that incredible trip, it being my first of (hopefully) many to come. One reason it was so fun and so memorable was because I was there with my best friend, my sister, in a brand new place, experiencing something I love and have always wanted to do (Hanson and attending Hanson Day)! I don't really get out of my comfort zone and go on adventures and live life doing things that I love and want to do, so that trip was huge for me! I'll never forget it.

I was going to try to post every day this month dedicating each post to Hanson like I sort of did last year. But I've been pretty much gone all month long and extremely, extremely busy!! I've been taking today to recover. I was trying to listen to every Hanson album and EP (that I own) this month but because I was so busy, it just didn't happen. I began by finding some very old OG Hanson albums and listened to them via youtube. They were darling and it made me so happy and proud of how far Hanson has come since those innocent beginnings. They are so inspiring to me. I listened to their album Boomerang and MMMBop. There was one song on Boomerang that really touched me. I'm going to share it today because that is one I keep thinking about and going back to. I wonder if Hanson will ever sing this again....

Song: Don't Accuse
Artist: Hanson, Boomerang (1995)

This song is so sweet. I can't believe such young boys thought up these lyrics. The song is about not judging people based on what we see. These kids were (and still are) so special. They understood human decency that many people three times their age still don't seem to understand or practice. The chorus has such a good message: "No, no, no don't accuse, you don't know what they've been through." It's so true!! We don't know what people are going through. I'm learning that more and more every day. I have a problem of comparing myself and my situation to others. I tend to see what people are posting on their social media and roll my eyes and think "Ugh. Look at those perfect people living their perfect lives. It's so unfair." But no one is perfect and life isn't perfect for anyone. I've re-learned an extremley poignant and important lesson from mouths of babes this month. Don't accuse, you don't know what they've been through. Kids know what's up.

Begins at minute 10:09

No, oh, oh, oh, oh,....
No, oh, oh, oh, oh,...
No, oh, oh, oh, oh,...
No, oh, oh, oh, oh,...

There was a boy, he was lame.
He had a limp in his leg.
People looked at him with a frown
He said, "Why do you put me down?"

No, no, no, don't accuse,
You don't know what they've been through.

No, no, no, don't accuse,
You don't know what they've been through.

How would you like it if I hurt you
Way deep inside?
I looked at you with a frown.
Would you feel all alone?
No-one comes over to help you.
It seems that nobody cares.
Maybe next time you'll think twice,
before you accuse or compare.

No, no, no, don't accuse,
You don't know what they've been through.
No, no, no, don't accuse,
You don't know what they've been through.
No, no, no, don't accuse,
You don't know what they've been through.
No, no, no, don't accuse,
You don't know what they've been through.

No, oh, oh, ......

When you break us, do we not bleed?
When you whip us, do we not weep?
When you hurt us, do we not cry?
When you stab us, do we not die?

No, no, no, don't accuse,
You don't know what they've been through.
No, no, no, don't accuse,
You don't know what they've been through.
No, no, no, don't accuse,
You don't know what they've been through.
No, no, no, don't accuse,
You don't know what they've been through.
No, no, no, don't accuse,
You don't know what they've been through.
No, no, no, don't accuse,
You don't know what they've been through.
