On the Road

Song: On the Road
Artist: Hanson

I always love listening to my very first Hanson fan club EP during the month of October. It's very nostalgic for me because the year I got this EP (2014) was the year I became a Fanson (Hanson fan) and that was just a really special time of life and I have many happy and positive memories associated with it. It just seems to have a "fall" vibe to it (in my opinion). I don't know how to explain it. Anyway, this is one of my favorite songs off the EP. I love the metaphor about how life is a journey and we choose "the road" we will travel. Each choice we make will determine if we stay on the path or if we will lose our way and get lost. Although we can always get back on the path by hard work and making our way back to the road.

Young man you know despite your best intentions
You can’t control, the risk that comes with growing old
Old
You’re striking out to claim your independence
You’ll pay the toll, if you have a pretentious soul
Soul

And in the moment, when the dust is spun
You’ll have time for contemplation underneath the desert sun
And there is no destination but the journey you are on
On the road

On the road you will find yourself getting lost being someone else
But you know you will find yourself on the road

Take my advice it is for your protection
The modern world is full of misdirection
Oh
Young me make sure, make sure to pay attention
You are alone but the serpent is always lurking close
He will take your soul

And in the moment, when the dust is spun
You’ll have time for contemplation underneath the desert sun
And there is no destination but the journey you are on
On the road

On the road you will find yourself getting lost being someone else
But you know you will find yourself on the road
‘Cause you know you will find yourself on the road
