Gethsemane

Song: Gethsemane
Artist: Roger & Melanie Hoffman, Covers by Claire Ryann, Unknown & Jenny Phillips

This song is so beautiful and so touching. It brings tears to my eyes, without fail, every time. I love it so much. What a sweet and tender picture it paints of the greatest act of love ever performed. Christ suffered in the garden of Gethsemane for the sins and pains of the world. I know that he suffered and bled from every pore. I know that He did it for me. I know that He knows me better than anyone. I know that He loves me so much. I know that He has felt my pain, my struggle, my fear, my frustration. He knows what social anxiety feels like. He knows what depression feels like. He knows what loneliness feels like. And because He knows all of this, He knows how to take it away. He took that pain upon Himself so that I could find peace. So that I don't have to suffer. Because of Him, there is peace. There is hope. There is safety. There is understanding. And there is love. I love my Savior. I praise Him. I worship Him.

I had to include three different versions of this song because I couldn't choose a favorite! Each one is beautiful but my heart is really touched by the voices of the sweet children.

Jesus climbed the hill
To the garden still
His steps were heavy and slow
Love and a prayer
Took Him there
To the place only He could go

Gethsemane
Jesus loves me
So He went willingly
To Gethsemane

He felt all that was sad, wicked or bad
All the pain we would ever know

While His friends were asleep
He fought to keep
His promise made long ago

Gethsemane
Jesus loves me
So He went willingly
To Gethsemane

The hardest thing that ever was done
The greatest pain that ever was known
The biggest battle that ever was won
This was done by Jesus
The fight was won by Jesus

Gethsemane
Jesus loves me
So He gave His gift to me
In Gethsemane

Gethsemane
Jesus loves me
So He gives His gift to me
From Gethsemane
