Single Girls Valentine Music Tribute Day 4

Song: Use Me Up
Artist: Hanson

I think I've already posted this song somewhere on my blog, but it's such a beautiful song, it's worth repeating. And it's about that longing for finding love. Which is what all we single ladies want at the end of the day, right? Love. But, in no way, shape or form am I encouraging or promoting that the "physical" love of a man is the most important thing. Do not become so desperate that you are willing to give yourself away, lose your innocence and purity, to fulfill yours (or someone else's) passion and desires. Do not think, because you may not have experienced intimacy with someone, it makes you "old-fashioned" "undesirable" "lame" "behind the times" etc. Waiting for the right person that you know you can love, honor and be committed to for the rest of life, and that person can do the same for you, will be so worth it! The phrase "Use Me Up" may suggest, to some, that that is all the person (in the song) desires, to be used. But when I listen to this song, I think the message is the desire to feel love and to feel desired. To feel something. Even if it might not last. They're desperate. Hurting. I think it's such a beautiful song. I love it.

Somebody let me down
Somebody show me love
I wouldn't care much either way

I'd rather the sticks and stones
Than dragging the ball and chain
Of what if the world won't take me

Even if the hole should crack
Even if the blood flows red
Nothing could be worse than numb
So please, use me up
I just want anyone
To use me up
'Cause no one ever does
Use me up

I've carried it all too long
The fear of the pain it brings

Feeling the panic building up

I'd rather the broken heart
Than live in the emptiness
Of what if the world won't take me

Even if the bow should break
Even if the blood runs cold
Nothing could be worse than numb
Please, use me up
I just want anyone
To use me up
'Cause no one ever does
Use me up
Use me up

Treat me some way cruel
You could throw me away
As long as I feel it
Show me something real
You can't deceive me
I am yours to use

Use me up [x3]
