Anthem 1: Dying to be Alive

Dying to be Alive is such an inspiring song! I fell in love with it the moment I first heard it. The message, the lyrics, the tune, Taylor's voice.....it's all just so perfect! And inspiring. For me anyhow.

Since graduating high school (2011) I have worked as a nanny. I love my job and I love the children I have gotten to work with over the years. But I feel like my life is in limbo. I haven't really accomplished much of anything. One of my biggest dreams and goals is to be a mother. I mean, it just makes sense! I love children, I love taking care of them and it's what I've wanted my entire life! I was that little girl who would carry around my baby doll and take care of it like it was a real child. I also have 5 younger siblings I loved to help take care of. I was (willingly!) changing diapers, making bottles and putting kids down for naps by the time I was 7! I started babysitting for my next door neighbors at 11 years old. It's something I truly love.

I believe that if I am to someday get married and have kids, it will be in God's timing but until then I need to work on becoming the best version of myself that I can be. This means no more sitting around waiting to bump into my prince charming, fall in love, get married, ride off into the sun set and live happily ever after.

Love this!

I need to start moving on with my life. I currently live at home and am surrounded by the same people I have known since I was 12 years old! I need to push myself, get out of my comfort zone, meet some new people, experience new opportunities! I want to truly start LIVING! I want to be DYING to be ALIVE! I need to take chances, not sit back and watch my life go by. I need to embrace every. single. day. of my life with all my heart and soul and live each day to the fullest! I shouldn't just be "trying to get by."

I LOVE this song! It has made such a HUGE impact on my life. It gives me a boost of confidence and motivation to do something. So, if you feel like you're sitting on the sidelines of your life (like me) instead of being the MVP, this song is for YOU! Let's get up and live our lives!

*I've highlighted some of my favorite parts of the song (the italicized and bolded parts).

Well I heard you crying
Somebody stole my soul.
How could I be dying?
I turned 25, days ago.

We're all
On the ground,
Just crying out.
Somebody save me please.
I won't sit around just thinking about,
The troubles that tommorrow brings
Yeah
I'm dying to be alive, yeah.
I'm dying to be alive, yeah.
Lets not go through our lives.
Without just dying to be alive.
Yeah.

The people you've touched,
The way you've touched them
I hope they've touched you too.
'Cause in this life,
It's hard to tell.
What is false and what is true.

We're all
On the ground,
Just crying out.
Would somebody save me please.
I won't sit around just thinking about
The troubles that tommorrow brings

I'm dying to be alive, yeah
Not trying to just survive, yeah.
Lets not go through our lives.
Without just dying to be alive.
Yeah.

And we all come,
Tumbling down.
No matter how strong,
We all return to the ground
Another day gone,
A day closer to fate.
Soon we'll find it's
A little too late.

Too late.

Na Na Na-na
Na Na Na-na
Na Na Na-na Na
Na Na Na-na
Na Na Na-na
Na Na Na-na na

The things you see,
The way you see them.
Will never be seen again
To go through life,
Livin' on luck.
Bettin' ten thousand to ten.
Yeah
Mistakes I've made
In this life.
Can't even see why I win.
But the thing that's strange is
You only live once.
And never look back again.
Yeah

I'm dying to be alive, yeah
Not trying to just survive, yeah.
Lets not go through our lives.
I'm just dying to be alive.
Yeah.

I'm dying to be alive, yeah
Not trying to just survive, yeah.
Let's not go through our lives.
Without just dying to be alive.
Yeah.

And we all come,
Tumbling down.
No matter how strong,
We all return to the ground.
When the day's gone,
Say "why did I wait?"
Can't just leave your
Life to fate.
Gotta turn it 'round
Before it's too late.
