Lead Me and There Goes My Life

It's a TWO song kind of day (and p.s. it's NOT Hanson related! Wha?)

Song: Lead Me
Artist: Sanctus Real

My sister introduced me to this song a couple weeks ago. She likes to listen to a local Christian pop radio station and she has been showing me a lot of songs that shes liked. I have to say, although this station isn't something I prefer to listen to on a daily basis, it's something I probably should be listening to more often. I have listened to this station before and have actually come across some really inspiring and uplifting songs. That radio station just makes me feel good about life and gives me hope. It also reminds me that there are STILL good people out there!! And it's really refreshing to hear a song about a father who is trying to be better for his family. A father who maybe was a little caught up in himself and his selfish desires but loves and cares about his family enough to make a change. This song is just really sweet and I really like it a lot.

I look around and see my wonderful life
Almost perfect from the outside
In picture frames I see my beautiful wife
Always smiling
But on the inside, I can hear her saying...

"Lead me with strong hands
Stand up when I can't
Don't leave me hungry for love
Chasing dreams, what about us?

Show me you're willing to fight
That I'm still the love of your life
I know we call this our home
But I still feel alone"

I see their faces, look in their innocent eyes
They're just children from the outside
I'm working hard, I tell myself they'll be fine
They're in independent
But on the inside, I can hear them saying...

"Lead me with strong hands
Stand up when I can't
Don't leave me hungry for love
Chasing dreams, but what about us?

Show me you're willing to fight
That I'm still the love of your life
I know we call this our home
But I still feel alone"

So Father, give me the strength
To be everything I'm called to be
Oh, Father, show me the way
To lead them
Won't You lead me?

To lead them with strong hands
To stand up when they can't
Don't want to leave them hungry for love,
Chasing things that I could give up

I'll show them I'm willing to fight
And give them the best of my life
So we can call this our home
Lead me, 'cause I can't do this alone

Father, lead me, 'cause I can't do this alone

The video below is the story behind the song. Touching and so cute!

Song: There Goes My Life
Artist: Kenny Chesney

I'm not a huge country fan but this is one song that, from the instant I heard it I was hooked. It's another fatherly type love song. It's about two teenagers who find themselves pregnant and it's from the young man's point of view. He's thinking about how now he will be restricted to a life of caring for this unplanned child and all of his plans and dreams are going out the window. But through the course of the song, he comes to the realization that this little girl, is his life and that he wouldn't trade her for the world. It's a really sweet song that actually makes me a choke up a little bit when I hear it. It makes me think of my dad and all the sacrifices he makes every single day for our family. I love him so much and it breaks my heart to think of finding someone else and leaving home. I don't know how the kids are doing it these days.....this "growing up and moving on" stuff but I really don't think I can handle it!!

All he could think about was I'm too young for this.
Got my whole life ahead.
Hell I'm just a kid myself.
How'm I gonna raise one.

All he could see were his dreams goin' up in smoke.
So much for ditchin' this town and hangin' out on the coast.
Oh well, those plans are long gone.

[Chorus:]
And he said,
There goes my life.
There goes my future, my everything.
Might as well kiss it all good-bye.
There goes my life.......

A couple years of up all night and a few thousand diapers later.
That mistake he thought he made covers up the refrigerator.
Oh yeah..........he loves that little girl.

Momma's waiting to tuck her in,
As she fumbles up those stairs.
She smiles back at him dragging that teddy bear.
Sleep tight, blue eyes and bouncin' curls.

[Chorus:]
He smiles.....
There goes my life.
There goes my future, my everything.
I love you, daddy good-night.
There goes my life.

She had that Honda loaded down.
With Abercrombie clothes and 15 pairs of shoes and his American Express.
He checked the oil and slammed the hood, said you're good to go.
She hugged them both and headed off to the West Coast.

[Chorus:]
And he cried,
There goes my life.
There goes my future, my everything.
I love you.
Baby good-bye.

There goes my life.
There goes my life.
Baby good-bye.

*So, I guess I actually might've, kinda lied about the no "Hanson" interference....I actually first heard this song on a video someone made of Taylor and his daughter Penny....oops ;) Yeah, I'm one of those weirdo's who likes to watch videos of the Hanson boys families.....is that creepy? I feel a little stalkerish.....it's a cute video though!!
