Let's get back to the music.....

I'm feeling pretty depressed about this healthy eating and exercising thing.....good thing I have my music to help me get through these down times. My health and weight loss goals aren't the only things I'm having a hard time with right now.....so before this turns into a pity-post, sob-fest let's talk HANSON!

LOVE this picture!!
Song: Stories
Artist: Hanson

This is takin' it way back to old school Hanson! This song is off their indie record 3 Car Garage which features some of their earliest recordings (95-96!) prior to when they made it big. Wish I could add this rare album to my Hanson CD collection but alas I don't believe there's any left :( I guess I could check Amazon but even then there's probably only used copies being sold for ridiculous prices (although I love Hanson more than any other musician in the music business, even I have my limits).

Look how little and cute they are!

This song (Stories) is incredibly sweet and immediately catchy. Check out Hanson's official website where you can listen to the entire album for free and hear their sweet, sweet baby voices :) Melts my heart. The video below was performed in 1998 where their voices were maturing (especially little Zac's, but man! Ike and Taylor have amazing voices!! They're so young, it just kills me!) but they sound incredible! Those harmonies.....anyone who thinks they have no talent are clearly just jealous. Or insane. Or both. These boys are the definition of musical talent. They WROTE this song when they were BABIES!!!

I dare you not to like this and be in awe of these three, fine young boys. What were YOU doing at 17, 15 & 12?? Not this. I could listen to this song over and over and over again and not get tired of one minute of it. And maybe I already do that.....but who's asking?

When we were young stories were told
That I would kiss you sweet like
People said there was a connection between us
Oh
Now that we're older stories are told
Of how I hold you tight
Whenever I see those people
I tell them were right

Stories will be told
From when our children are young
Until they're old
Oh
About our endless love
We must have been a blessing from above

Stories will be told, oh
Until we're old
Stories will be told
Until the end of time
Stories will be told
Until we're old
Stories will be told
Until the end of time

Until the sun won't rise, oh
Let me tell you mine, oh
Let me tell you mine

It all started on 77th Street
When we were just thirteen
I had no cares at all
Until I saw you from the corner of my eye
It changed my views
It changed my whole life

Stories will be told
From when our children are young
Until they're old
Oh
About our endless love
We must have been a blessing from above

Stories will be told
From when our children are young
Until they're old
Oh
About our endless love
We must have been a blessing from above

*Such mature lyrics for kids to be writing. Granted, I'm sure they had help but for them to even go along with the idea is beyond me! We need more kids like these guys in today's world! Below is the original version of the song from 1996! Their voices are so young and cute!

Starts at minute 10:31

I'm kind of on a Hanson high right now soooooo you get TWO songs today! WOOT WOOT!

Song: Solider
Artist: Hanson

Another Hanson throw-back, indie song. Cute lyrics, musically brilliant, and performed with more maturity, heart, passion and TALENT than the likes of any so-called "stars" of today's current music "Top 10", heck "Top 100" (Justin Bieber, One Direction, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Katy Perry, Lady GaGa, Lorde, Brittany Spears (do people actually think she has a GOOD singing voice?? It's like fingernails on a chalkboard, seriously! ZERO talent!!) and yeah, I'll even go as far as the Queen B herself, Miss BEYONCE!! How does that feel your highness, being owned by three adolescent boys? ;) Sorry, I'm getting carried away here.....I'm only not mentioning T-Swift because I actually like most of her songs and she's a Hanson Fan so I'm a little biased ;) Go Taylor!)

Anyway I love this song, it's like listening to a story sung with beautiful angelic voices. Seriously, I wish I had known more about these boys back in 97/98. I love them now, but there is something so endearing about 90's Hanson that I can't seem to get over! When I watch old videos like this I just start missing younger Hanson more and more. Especially Zac, he is SO CUTE!! His smile is adorable! Still is ;) I'm kind of a Zac girl if you couldn't tell.....but not in that way.....I totally love and respect the fact that they are married with children. Makes me love them even more!

Not so long ago in a toy room not so far away
Lived a boy who had so many toys
And he didn't know what to do with them all
With them all, with them all
Well his favorite of all the toys
were the tin soldiers, the tin soldiers
And the one that he loved the most
was the one with the missing leg

At night the toys would come alive
Or that's how the story is told
And there they met the soldier
With the missing leg
And the ballerina with the heart of gold
At night they would share each others dreams
Under the stars shining bright
But they were too shy
To speak of love, to speak of love

One day the boy sat them on the windowsill
To watch for the enemy coming over the hill
But when the wind it blew
It knocked him into the street
And the boys from the town they said:

Won't you look at the one legged soldier
Let's stick him in a boat and send him far away
'Cause we can't find a use
For a soldier with a missing leg

And he was lonely, so lonely for a friend
And he was lonely, so lonely for a friend
He was so lonely
Yeah

As he floated past a river rat
On his homemade boat
Well the boat began to sink
And he sank to the bottom of the river
He got swallowed by a fish
Caught by a fisherman
Sold to the family of the boy who had the toys

And the cook said look at the one legged soldier
It looks just like the one we lost the other day
Could this be the boy's tin soldier with the missing leg?

But he was lonely, so lonely for a friend, oh
And he was lonely, so lonely for a friend
He was so lonely, yeah
Oh yeah so lonely, oh yeah

What about the ballerina?

As he sat on the mantle piece to dry from the river
The ballerina who held his heart sat at his side
And when they got up to dance with each other
She fell by the fire blazing bright
When he jumped to save her from the flames
Their bases began to melt into one and the same
And now they share each other's destiny
Together forever they will be

And they are no longer lonely for a friend
And they are no longer lonely for a friend
No longer lonely, yeah
no longer lonely
Whoa whoa
Yeah
Whoa
No longer lonely, yeah

Well not so long ago in a toy room not so far away
Lived a boy who had so many toys
And he played with them all
With them all, with them all
Well he had a ballerina and a one legged soldier
stuck together at the base
And they share each others destiny
as they sit on top of the mantel place

It's the story of the one legged soldier
The story of the one legged soldier
The story of the tin soldier
with the missing leg...

*I prefer this version to their album version, but on the original song their younger sisters do a little commentary at the beginning of the video and I find that to be adorable!! LOVE family people like the Hanson's! Families are Forever!

(Little Sisters, adorable!):
Can I hear the story about the one legged soldier?
Please?
And can you tell me the story of the soldier?
Please?
One more time
Or I'll knock your nose off

(*Sorry about the above video with Spanish lyrics....only one I could find with the original recording with the youtube link)

I'm already starting to feel better. Thanks again Hanson! I know I can ALWAYS count on these guys!
