The Judge
Song: The Judge
Artist: Twenty One Pilots
Who's up for a 2017 challenge? Want to know what it is? It's a big one.....
I want to post a new song.....EVERY SINGLE DAY THIS YEAR!!!! That's my goal. To post a new song every day. And throughout this time, especially during the holidays, I will have various "music challenges" such as my past "Music Challenge" (2014), "A Single Girls Valentine Music Tribute" (2015), "Month of Love Songs Challenge" (2016), "Halloween Week" (2016), "Grateful For Music Challenge" (2015 & 2016)", "Christmas Advents" (2014, 2015 & 2016), etc.
I'm going to try really hard to do this. And I want them to be songs that I feel a real connection or emotional attachment too. Music is a way I express my thoughts and feelings. It speaks for me when words just can't. Or when I struggle to find the right things to say. I listen to music every single day. I feel alive, motivated and inspired when I hear a great song or a really amazing lyric. So that's why I want to do this. I want to remind myself why music is so important to me. And maybe, if anyone ever stops by my poor, abandoned and neglected little blog here, they will relate. Or feel inspired. Or just find a really cool, amazing new favorite song that they never knew existed!
I already have a January/New Years challenge I want to start soon. But that is one of my goals for 2017. Now, I won't beat myself up (too much) if I miss a day....especially since at one point (or a couple of points) this year I want to do more "Media Fasts." Just more time "unplugged" and offline. And then of course there may be times I'm on vacation and away from internet access, a crazy, busy day, etc.
I've been really loving this song lately. Some of the lyrics are just really symbolic and relatable to me. Specifically the line "I'm best friends with my doubt." That part is just like....yes. That is me. Also the chorus makes me think how "the judge" are those around us. Our peers, other people. And how we rely on other people's opinions of us to the point where we break down and just want to be "set free." I don't know for sure what the message or intent of this song is supposed to be but there's my two cents for ya. Please share your thoughts in the comments below! (Another thing that would be cool to happen this year is to get some followers! Or at least see more action in the comments section).

Na na na na, oh oh
Na na na na, oh oh
Na na na na, oh oh
When the leader of the bad guys sang,
Something soft and soaked in pain,
I heard the echo from his secret hideaway,
He must've forgot to close his door,
As he cranked out those dismal chords,
And his four walls declared him insane.
I found my way,
Right time, wrong place,
As I pled my case.
You're the judge, oh no, set me free,
You're the judge, oh no, set me free,
I know my soul's freezing,
Hell's hot for good reason, so please, take me.
Na na na na, oh oh
Na na na na, oh oh
Na na na na, oh oh
Three lights are lit but the fourth one's out,
I can tell 'cause it's a bit darker than the last night's bout,
I forgot about the drought of light bulbs in this house,
So I head out, down a route I think is heading south,
But I'm not good with directions and I hide behind my mouth,
I'm a pro at imperfections and I'm best friends with my doubt,
And now that my mind's out, and now I hear it clear and loud,
I'm thinking, "Wow, I probably shoulda stayed inside my house."
I found my way,
Right time, wrong place,
As I pled my case.
You're the judge, oh no, set me free,
You're the judge, oh no, set me free,
I know my soul's freezing,
Hell's hot for good reason, so please,
I don't know if this song is a surrender or a revel,
I don't know if this one is about me or the devil.
I don't know if this song is a surrender or a revel,
I don't know if this one is about me or the devil.
You're the judge, oh no, set me free, oh no
You're the judge, oh no, set me free, oh no
I know my soul's freezing,
Hell's hot for good reason, so please,
Na na na na, oh oh
Na na na na, oh oh
Na na na na, oh oh
Na na na na, oh oh (You're the judge, oh no, set me free)
Na na na na, oh oh (You're the judge, oh no, set me free)
Na na na na, oh oh (You're the judge, oh no, set me free)
