Was it a THRILLER? π§ Or was it BAD? π Either way, the Michael movie is KING! π
HEEEEEEYYYYY!!!
I just had to jump on here real quick to geek out and fangirl over the MICHAEL MOVIE! π₯ππΊπ
I just got back from seeing the Early Access viewing in IMAX and....I don't have words, it was PHENOMONAL!! I was so nervous before going haha when I'm super excited about something I get anxious! There has been so much build up for me personally leading up to this movie! I have tried to recreate the feeling of "Michael Mania" from the 80's as best I could. My social media algorithms have fed me nothing but Michael biopic content since November (which I have been LOVING but also can't help feeling a little sad and jealous about missing out on all the cool Michael related events around the world and not having someone special I can geek out with...my family is wonderful and I'm so grateful for them but you know what I mean...).
Tonight was everything I could have hoped for and more! Despite getting stuck in crazy traffic and barely making it to on time π
that felt very typical for my family haha. But we made it and that's all that matters! I didn't miss a second! And I loved every single thing about it!! I loved dressing up, and eating popcorn out of my Michael Jackson Fedora shaped popcorn bucket, taking pictures with the GIANT poster, jamming to his music in the car, sining along to the songs during the film with my sister (some of those concert performances had me wanting to SCREAM "IT'S MICHAEL!!!" π I was like one of those crazed, passing out fans you see during concert footage lol). Tonight was perfect.
And the MOVIE?? Don't get me started! It was perfect!! I LOVED it! I teared up a few times (after little Michael gets beat by Joseph and is crying in the bathroom, when Michael brings home the game Twister and wants to play with his brothers, when his hair caught on fire). This made me fall in love with Michael all over again! I obviously knew everything about him and his life going in but to watch it portrayed so beautifully was so much fun!
And DEFINTILEY don't get me started on Jaffar!! He was FANTASTIC! He embodied Michael to a T! He was PERFECTION! He better win EVERY SINGLE AWARD! For his first time acting, he was crushed it!
Oh and all the easter eggs like him reading Peter Pan, BUBBLES, LOUIE the LLAMA, even when he's reading The Wizard of Oz and it zooms in on the Scarecrow❗❗ I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE!! π Ugh. I could go on forever! One thing I was shocked to not see any portrayal of at all was Diana Ross! She played a big role in the beginning of their career and meant a lot to Michael so I'm surprised to see no mention of her. And it was sad not seeing any Janet...but La Toya was sure there haha
I have to be honest it was hard for me to not compare the beginning of the film to the TV mini series The Jacksons American Dream. It felt a little rushed but I get that we wanted to see the magic years of Michael (Off the Wall - Bad). And I'm SO GLAD we did!
