New Song Challenge: Awake and Arise

Song: Awake and Arise
Artist: LDS Hymnbook, pg. 8

Since today is the Sabbath day, I have decided to choose a Hymn that I've never heard or sung before. Another goal I want to set for myself this year, musically, and for my overall BIG goal of posting every, single day of 2017 is that every Sunday, I want to post spiritual songs. Whether that be hymns, primary songs or other religious music, I want to honor the Lord's day better by listening to (and posting) more reverent music. This hymn seems very .... invigorating. Inspiring. And strong. Happy Sabbath!

Awake and arise, O ye slumbering nations
The heavens have opened their portals again.
The last and the greatest of all dispensations
Has burst like a dawn o'er the children of men!

The dream of the poet, the crown of the ages,
The time which the prophets of Israel foretold,
That glorious day only dreamed by the sages
Is yours, O ye slumbering nations; behold!

Oh, lift up your voices in song and in story.
Let banners of peace in all lands be unfurled,
For truth, heaven-born, in its beauty and glory
Is marching triumphantly over the world.

HAPPY 2017!!
