Grateful for Music Challenge Day 8: Be Still My Soul

Song: Be Still My Soul

This is one of my all-time favorite hymns. It holds a very special place in my heart. I know that my Savior is always there for me, and what a comfort that knowledge is. I love Him. I trust Him. I follow Him. He is always on my side, supporting me and loving me. I am grateful to know this for myself and for the comfort this beautiful hymn brings to my sad and troubled heart.

I have included two different versions of this beautiful song for today because I couldn't decide between the two! They are both so wonderful! One is by an acappella group from Provo, Utah called Vocal Point and the other is by a favorite artist of mine, Mindy Gledhill, also a native to Utah.

"Be still my soul, the Lord is on thy side..."

Be still, my soul: The Lord is on thy side;
With patience bear thy cross of grief or pain.
Leave to thy God to order and provide;
In ev'ry change he faithful will remain.
Be still, my soul: Thy best, thy heav'nly Friend
Thru thorny ways leads to a joyful end.

Be still, my soul: Thy God doth undertake
To guide the future as he has the past.
Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake;
All now mysterious shall be bright at last.
Be still, my soul: The waves and winds still know
His voice who ruled them while he dwelt below.

Be still, my soul: The hour is hast'ning on
When we shall be forever with the Lord,
When disappointment, grief, and fear are gone,
Sorrow forgot, love's purest joys restored.
Be still, my soul: When change and tears are past,
All safe and blessed we shall meet at last.
