Michael and Me Part 1
***This is the first part of a series of blogposts I am dedicating to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, and the similarities and traits that I share with him. It's almost like I know him! Stay tuned, I think you'll be pretty amazed. And I'm not making ANY of this up! I loved and felt ALL of these things before I knew anything about MJ!***
So, my obsession with Michael Jackson has only gotten worse! For my birthday, I bought Thriller: Special Edition (CD) and the Bad CD. I have been organizing my Pinterest board where I currently have over 400 pins of Michael. I'm still watching video after video of interviews, funny moments, music videos, live performances etc. on youtube. Yup. You could say I'm having the same unhealthy obsession with Michael that I had with Hanson last year....ugh! I hate being such a fangirl sometimes!
But there's been something kind of....different.....even special about my love for Michael. Obviously, he was an extraordinary talent. His dancing cannot be touched, his vocals were beyond powerful, even at such a tender age. I began to do some research on him in late August; I was curious to know who he was and why I had grown up thinking he was so "bad"....and not the kind of bad that his song implies ;)
As I read and studied, I learned so much about who he was. And I saw myself. In so many ways. I found myself thinking "Oh my gosh, me too! That's me!" Below is one similarity I share with Michael that has touched me the most and shown me so much about his character:
Michael LOVED Children.
I LOVE children. I always have. I have always felt most comfortable with them. I don't feel judged by them. I love their innocence. Their sincerity. Their faith. Their belief. The way they can see the good in things and in people. I learn so much from children. They aren't looking for anything from you, they're not comparing you, they simply want to be loved. To feel accepted for who they are. They want to have fun! This is one of the main things that made me love Michael. His pure and genuine love for children. The way he talked about them, the things he said, I was just like "You are literally putting words to my feelings!!!" It's amazing! (I apologize in advance for the excessive overload of pictures and videos below....I didn't even get HALF as many as I would have liked to!! I absolutely ADORE Michael's love for children!)
Even as a child, Michael had a special love and appreciation for children :)

"I'm trying to imitate Jesus in the
fact that he said to be like children, to love children, to be as pure as
children and to make yourself as innocent and to see the world through eyes of
wonderment and the whole magical quality of it all." Oprah Winfrey interview1993.
These three pictures melt my heart! <3 What a sweet, sweet soul

On February 18, 1986, fourteen-year old
heart transplant patient, Donna Ashlock from Patterson in California , receives
a call from Michael Jackson after he learns she is a devoted fan. Michael
wishes her well and invites her to visit him at the Encino family home once she
is feeling better.

I bet those children were ecstatic to meet Bubbles, Michael's pet Chimpanzee :)

**UPDATED 9/30/15**: I'm so in love with this beautiful, tender and incredibly sweet song by Michael. Wow! Pulls at the heartstrings BIG time! I literally have tears in my eyes listening to this song, The Lost Children. This could only be performed with such love and gentleness from someone who truly loved and cared for children.
